**2011 APUSH Official Post-Test**

I did fine in everything except I but Shay’s rebellion instead of Bacon’s rebellion. So silly! Wonder how bad that hurts me?

In my opinion, it was DBQ>Part C (African american question> PArt B (Origin/development of slavery.

My Part B and Part C essays were really good i think but my DBQ may have been a bit awkward/ uneven.

I predict 6/8/7

I used the stono rebellion.
And say that oppression really didn’t exist in that time period against slaves.
Supported by
-people working along side their slaves
-no real discrimination.

I thought it was a good, well supported essay.

For the essay on division I just gave example of how the parties always were at odds no matter the time period. I don’t see how I couldn’t have did well on that one: I used the B.U.S example from after the constition as well as the issue of credit and the westward frontier, while throwing in other ones like loose vs. strict interpretation, the geography correlation… etc. That all was division imo. So if I don’t get a good score on that one I’ll be upset.

And for the last one I said that the new civil rights leaders were more unified and pushed harder for government help, as compared to the varying views of the earlier reformers who were radical in the case of garvey. Also, I acccidentally said dubois proposed violent response to the racism, when in realiy he was the one who supported the top 10%, a serious mistake by me but i grouped him with the other 2 by time period so i dont think it’ll hurt as much

Overall, I thought the test was pretty easy.

MC: …? I don’t even know how to describe this section. It was just very strange. Several time periods that normally show up frequently were excluded all together. Other time periods/events that don’t usually receive much emphasis received significant emphasis on this test and there were also several random topics that I don’t believe have ever been tested before. As for the difficulty, I would probably say slightly harder than normal. If anyone wants to confirm/discuss any specific ones, PM me.

DBQ: At first I thought I was screwed, but then I realized I knew way more about Nixon than I thought I did. I thank DH for that. :)

FRQ: Eh, I thought I did decently on my first one (slavery) and pretty well on the second (immigrants) so I predict around a 6 average for both.

I thought the multiple choice was great. I was disappointed with the lack of Jackson questions. I studied that pretty hard. The Crash Course book was AMAZING. It had almost everything. I had a pretty bad teacher, and I hardly ever cracked open my textbook. I’m quite sure that I passed, especially because of the huge number of people who take the exam who aren’t very intelligent…

for the nixon dbq, i only have 4 paragraphs and 2 groups…is that okay?

groups were:

 1. international challenges
 2. domestic challenges

So um… how bad does getting the name of a rebellion wrong mess up your score? I got the explanation/relation to the topic right…

they know what you mean and i dont think they’ll really take any more than a point off if you explain the rebellion correctly

there is no curve on this test right?

^ All of the AP exams are curved.

@Praying4Luck: Thanks. Now I can relax and forget about this test!

What was the answer to the first mc about Chesapeake colonies? Also the one about revolutionary actions in Massachusetts that was an “except” question?

I believe Direct Hits fared quite well for its first test out. It really helped me with African-American history, especially since two free-response questions were on it! (2, 5)
Also: my teacher/book never connected Bacon’s rebellion with the decline of indentured servitude and the rise of slavery; thank god direct hits did for me!

At the end of M.C. I started writing notes for gilded age/reconstruction so I could gather all the thoughts in my mind again. When I opened that packet I was quite suprised, but it turned out to be pretty straightforward. There are few things I wish I had pointed out; Henry Kissinger, “shuttle diplomacy”, role of OPEC (I only had them connected with the energy crisis under Carter in my head and did not want to risk it). I’m thinking a 8.

I was a bit too generalized on question 2, but it was alright. Probably a 7.
Question 5, organizing was kind of difficult, and I rambled a bit… likely also a 7.

I went through MC and counted possible misses, I thought I missed 4-8.

It was actually a fairly enjoyable test!

Overall, not too bad. BUT, I brought up the Liberator and WLG in one of my essays. Whoops! hopefully it won’t hurt my score too much… :P

I thought MC was relatively hard just due to the fact that there were barely any Revolution, WW1&2, New Deal, Jackson questions but I might be ok.
Never even learned about Nixon but I BS’d the DBQ pretty well - Vietnam, post civil rights era race relations (remembered Nixon had been taped saying racist comments), and Watergate (3 1/2 pages)
For FRQ #2 I said economic opportunity in colonies were origins (tobacco …etc) and I said colonial laws slowly differetiating rights between black and white servants were the development (1 1/2 pages)
For FRQ #5 I used Booker and DuBois for same goals but different means - passive vs. aggressive and MLK and X for same goals but different means - peaceful v. militant (1 1/2pages)
Overall I’d say it went alright. I’m thinking a 4 but I don’t really know. Could be a 5, could be a 3. I’m positive I passed though

@student5000, that first question had me wondering too. I put planters but it might also have been indentured servants, I really don’t know.

Question 3 seemed ludicrously easy, about Columbus’ motives. Same too with the “Where did Iraq invade” one.

“Malcolm X was part of the Muslim Brotherhood.”

■■■

The MC really threw me off. The things I knew the most about: Jackson, Antebellum period, Reconstruction, Progressivism, WW1&2 weren’t there… I guessed on about 25 and imagine I got about 20 wrong.

DBQ and FRQ made me feel a little better. I’m expecting like a 7 on the DBQ, and then hopefully two 6’s, or maybe a 6 and a 5 (kinda screwed up my immigration essay) on the FRQ.

Does this put me at a 5? Or right at the threshold or what? I used some APUSH calculator, but I’m not sure how well that can be trusted.

I feel like I did terribly on the MC part. 50% maybe? I’m trying to be as pessimistic (and realistic) as possible…

I’m hoping my essays will make up for it! For the DBQ, I rambled a lot, and I don’t think I made valid points, so I think I am looking at maybe a four. I’m never sure if I’m too lenient on myself.

However, on the other FRs, I talked quite in depth about Chesapeake and how tobacco and Bacon’s Rebellion developed slavery. I left out cotton because it didn’t fit in the time period. (right?)

For part C, I first compared DuBois and Washington (talked about talented tenth vs. practical approach), and then about how it became much more radical and conspicuous in the 60s because they felt stronger about their identity (black pride, Martin Luther King Jr. of course, and Malcome X/Garvey briefly), and wrote like three pages on each of those FRQs.

Do you think that’s enough to get me at least like a 7? Or am I thinking of myself too highly

ahhhh! I really want a five on this, although I totally BSed multiple choice SOOO bad. The online calculator made me feel a LOT better, but I don’t know how accurate it is… I really didn’t study much :x I absolutely despise APUSH. I slept through the whole dang year. (no wonder I was clueless on MC lol) I’ve never hated a class so much before! it’s disgustinggg. I would rather do WHAP a hundred times over. Am I the only person who thinks it’s a hideous subject?
