<p>Because of the rising cost of health care, lawmakers debate whether consumers should pay a higher tax on foods and beverages, such as junk food and sweetened drinks, that have been linked to healt11 risks. Some lawmakers support charging consumers a higher tax on such foods and beverages because they think doing so will discourage people from buying these unhealthy products. Other lawmakers do not support charging consumers a higher tax on such foods and beverages because they think people should not be penalized for their dietary decisions, regardless of the health implications. In your opinion, should consumers pay a higher tax on foods and beverages that have been linked to health risks?</p>
