Attending: Indiana!
I decided to continue at my undergrad school for one more year and pick up a Biotechnology masters in order to ensure that I want to get my PhD. Plus, even if I decide not to continue on, the masters will get me a better starting salary at my internship company

I’m just wondering the major differences between PhD programs that are within the School of Medicine vs. School of Public Health. I want to focus on virology or infectious diseases.

example: PhD in biomedical at UPitt in the school of medicine or PhD in infectious disease and pathology in school of public health.

international student

I thought I messed up the interview with BCM but ended up accepted. I now still think my interviews with uchicago were pretty good and smooth, but just received an email from my interviewer saying that the competition was particularly intense this year. so…you’ll never know ;)

hi.I am an applicant
Been accepted for the IUPUI-IBMG program.
has anyone been accepted to IUPUI- IBMG program.
How good do you think the program is? I haven’t heard from the other universities i applied to. keeping my options open.

@mclouis and eyesonly6587: thanks so much for your replies, guys! i applied to neural science, so i guess it’s a bit different when it comes to notofications. thanks again and congrats to you!!

Does anyone know if it’s possible to get rejected after an interview if you have been accepted to a program before your interview? I got accepted to a school about two weeks before my interview (this Friday), and now I can’t see my decision online anymore (it won’t load). Is this some sort of freak and untimely coincidence, or do you think they changed their minds?

I suppose they could revoke the offer of admission if someone acted truly heinously during recruitment. But that would be exceedingly rare, so I wouldn’t worry about it.

Finally made my decision, so here’s a recap if it helps anyone:

Hopefully those scanning these pages next year will find this helpful…I applied to all neuroscience PhD programs where the option was available

GPA: 3.02 from small highly ranked LAC, additional courses taken at multiple other schools
GRE: 660-V 740-Q 4-W
Research: 2 summers at a lab in a biotech company, 1.5 years in a lab post-grad with 1 first author paper accepted, another first author paper submitted and one more on the way. 1 conference paper talk.

Just took myself off the waiting lists and am going to Tufts! Obviously, my GPA is on the low end but my research experience was able to overcome that so I hope that’s comforting to those in a similar situation.
