2011 Official Biosciences Interviews and Results

@ flutopian, yup the february date is all filled though you can go on a waitlist for it they said, nothing that I really want to bargain with… :frowning: The professor that I spoke with seemed much more flexible and accommodating than the actual woman who does the scheduling so maybe there is hope?

Ah, complexities of interview scheduling! I’m trying to rebook one of my other schools (very nicely) hoping that they understandingly agree and don’t think anything less of me for asking… It would make everything fit together perfectly…

@ DeisGrad: Yup, the interview date for Harvard MCB is Feb 2-5. Anyone has an idea of how many are invited and the percentage to get in?

@ CompBio2011: the mol bio of Princeton has the interview on Feb 25. I have to say QCB is probably on a separate schedule.

CalTech Biology sent out interview invites via email today…

Just got CalTech’s email! :slight_smile: Interview options are Feb. 10-11 as well as March 3-4. I think I’m gonna take the first option to keep the other weekend open for Stanford genetics… crosses fingers!!

Congrats to everyone who heard good news today!! Hopefully there will be more coming for everyone soon!!

@llin30
Nope, I haven’t heard anything from the program yet. I imagine they’ll wait until all the online interview forms are submitted before coordinating further.

@kurplunk18, ugh, no bueno. I just got the formal email invite listing the March interview date. I wrote back with a request for an alternative, but we’ll see. UCSD and Stanford conflicting realllllllllllyyyyy sucks. I don’t know what I’ll do. Maybe both programs would agree to split my time, but I’m afraid that makes me out to be a less desirable candidate. SIGH

My roommate made this web site; I think it is very useful for not having to check gradcafe results over and over again. It sends you the most recent submission/result updates of your schools:

[Grad school results by SMS](http://gotaccepted.appspot.com/)

I am almost entirely certain that all Harvard BBS acceptances have already been emailed out. Recruitment event planners were told that the deadline for accepted students to rsvp for one of the recruitment weekends is next week.

@Flutopian
Hmm online interview forms? All I got was an email from a prof from the home program notifying me that I was invited. Which home program did you apply to? Sorry for asking so many questions, but thanks in advance!

@ NS1A

I’ve got an interview invitation on 14 Jan (Harvard, Chemical Biology) . Maybe they are not done yet. They invite 18 for interview and will accept 12.

Have you applied for chemical biology of UMICH? If yes, have you heard anything? I received nothing from them! the deadline was 15 Jan, but there are a few results from them on the gradcafe.

Agreed – I stopped in at the office yesterday and was told that, while it’s still possible that a few acceptances haven’t gone out yet, for the most part they are all out.

Got an email for an interview for Indiana’s Biotech MS! First school I’ve heard from, so I’m pretty excited. Also applied to Notre Dame, Illinois, and IUPUI (just looking for a masters program right now even though I have the stats for a PhD)

MIT CSBi isn’t done with invites…i spoke to the chair yesterday and he told me that they will be sending them out over the course of the week. hopefully nothing to be worried about yet.

@amshid

Thanks for the info. Sorry, but I did not apply to UMICH, Harvard is the only school I have not heard from.

Got an interview invitation to UVM’s CMB program this morning on my way to work!

Thank you very much for the csbi update! my hope is weak but still more |alive> than |dead>…both actually… thank you,

So UVM wants to interview me on Feb 11th, when I’ll be interviewing in Chicago. Their other interview day is Jan 28th, when I will be flying back from Baltimore. I just tried to convince Expedia to let me change my flights so I can get to Burlington in time, but it’s not going to be feasible.

Let’s hope UVM will let me come up and interview separately from their interview weekends. I really like UVM and their program!

@llin30 In the paperwork they mailed was instructions on accessing an online interview form where you listed the faculty you’re interested in interviewing with, any special accommodations needed, etc. I applied to Micro/Immuno. Hope that helps!

UConn just sent me an email to schedule a phone interview! :)

Nooooo, who got an interview at UMass Med’s BBS program? (I’m also refreshing the GradCafe results list a lot.)

Thanks for the updates on BBS.
