I think its a good idea, mostly cause it just shows common courtesy, but also because it reaffirms your interest in the program.

Cornell Weill Allied Program alternative interview dates

just talked to the program coordinator, alternative interviews will be done via skype on evenings. if anyone hasn’t gotten a reply about alternatives, definitely give the program a call (my emails apparently went through the spam folder). good luck everyone! and congrats on those accepted already

Acceptance to NYU Sackler via email!!! I’m so excited!! It has definitely been my favorite school so far…

Anyone hear official words yet from Einstein (Acceptances)? I went for an interview 24-25 and was told their admissions committee was meeting that following thursday.

@benkraj, I got the waitlist e-mail too.

Just a friendly reminder…I know all you hard working people have earned every interview you’ve gotten, but if you absolutely know you’re committed to a school already, please please please withdraw from other interviews to give people on waitlists a chance. You’ll feel good about helping someone else, and it’s just good karma!

Thanks and good luck with interviews everyone!

No need to worry, I interviewed at INP last week too and I haven’t heard anything.

Anybody attend the first UCSF BMS interview weekend? If so, any thoughts on what us next-rounders can expect? Impressions?

Acceptance to NYU Sackler! SO excited- definitely in my top two choices!
I really loved the weekend.

@flutopian

I went to UCSF BMS this past weekend. It was my first interview, so I don’t have much to compare it to. Everyone was super friendly and the atmosphere was really laid back. Didn’t really get grilled too badly by anyone, but make sure you can talk research. They also wear you out. We were pretty much doing nonstop events on a schedule from 8am til 11pm or later both nights. I haven’t heard back from them yet on acceptance or denial.

Since this is my first post, I may as well post my stats
US student
4.0 undergrad GPA in both major and general
2 years research experience total, just over 1 year of it was in a single lab on a single project
GRE: Around low 70th percentile quantitative, mid 80th verbal, and mid 90th analytical writing

Applied UCSF BMS, UCSD BMS, Berkeley MCB, Oregon Health Science University, Stanford Biosciences, and JHU pathobiology, neuroscience, and CMM (they allow multiple departments on a single application)

I got interviews everywhere except Stanford (my lone rejection)

By the way, if anyone from the first UCSF BMS interview weekend has been or gets accepted, please let us know when they told you and how (phone, email). I’m getting anxious/nervous and I want to know if people are already getting acceptance notifications…?!

Good luck to all of you.

Admitted to Penn’s Immunology program as of noon today. Certainly takes some of the stress off. I interviewed this past weekend.

I can enjoy the rest of my interviews now.

ey cbck98,

which program from NYU Sackler did you apply for?? And how was the interview?
Thanks!!

tnns,

My son just got another offer yesterday. I suggested to him to think seriously about his upcoming visits to other colleges before he goes. There is a possibility he may cancel one of those visits.
Which schools are you interested in?

Hi proudmother2011. Congrats to you and your son!

I was waitlisted for an interview at UCSD BMS. It is my number one for many reasons, including personal ones…I really hope I can snag an interview spot that someone declines.

Accepted to UCSF BMS! Interviewed the last weekend in January.

@compbio2011
Did you apply to the individual bioinformatics program? I know PIBS had an interview weekend last week. Did the bioinformatics program have that as well?

Got an acceptance into Indiana’s Biotech masters program! First choice program and it’s very small so I’m excited

northwestern IGP invite today! wow, i thought they had finished. their last invites are going out today apparently. gl people if you’re still waiting. march 3-5 interview dates or feb 17-19.

Alright I need advice for the first time, this is driving me nuts… don’t take it wrong I know its a good situation to be in but &^&%$^!

Ok school A is mid tier ranked with great research funding and program. The very successful POI of my dreams and I are hitting it off really well. They have already offered a summer paid or fall rotation and long term position afterward with secured exciting projects. The lab has produced very successful graduates and they are pretty selective about who they take in. Weather rocks. Program as a whole is only okay.

School B is higher ranked with a more personalized program to my research interests. The stipend is about the same, but I also don’t have an exact POI narrowed down yet which could have potential funding issues in the future. A lot smaller program in size, but very close knit group and the program itself have produced successful graduates as well. Weather can be frightful.

It seems that I like School A because I have secured a spot in the lab of my dreams and School B because I like the smaller program as a whole (the whole tight knit part). What it comes down though, for me is the potential for success in research for impact/graduation purposes and if I can do well afterward.

What do you think??? Any comments or opinions would be appreciated!

Has anyone heard back from JHU cellular and molecular medicine? And do you know if Yale and Penn have sent out all interview invitations for pharmacology? A little worried since these are my top choices and I haven’t heard back from them.
