@ rabbitstew sorry for the typos doing this on the phone

Has anyone interviewed at both Wash U in St. Louis and UPenn??? I loved both programs and I would like to hear your opinions. Also, any thoughts on Princeton?? People seem impressed, but it’s a bit small…

I’ve recently been to both places and I’ve also liked them both. It all really comes down to which is a better fit for you personally and whether you’d want to live in St. Louis or Philadelphia. I don’t know anything about Princeton’s program except that it is relatively new compared to the other programs, which can be a good or a bad thing.

@grad dreams–

Thank you! It was the IMBG program and I have gotten an acceptance letter from them. Who did you interview with?

No problem, immuno2011, I could read it easily. Thanks for the honest response. I’m crossing my fingers to be high enough on the list to still have hope if someone else says no.

Zidane0623 – I interviewed at UCSF BMS and havent heard back yet. They said it’d be a couple of weeks, so I’d start looking at the end of this week or beginning of next. Nobody I know from the interview session has heard back yet.

anyone interview with USC PIBBS on february 9-12 and heard back yet? i’m waiting anxiously!

Flutopian — I actually interviewed in the first UCSF BMS weekend, and I know someone who got accepted on the wednesday afterwards. What I think is they accept the best clear-cut students first. For others, they wait for the second interview to finish, and then decide.

Ahhh, then yes. I know of several people already with acceptances from the first session, but you’re right, they do hold off to consider those in group 2. Fingers crossed!

First official rejection this weekend: Harvard (SPH BPH) finally sent me a rejection letter. Still waiting on my first acceptance, with 3 interviews done and 2 to go.

Accepted to Yale BBS–MCGD tonight.

Accepted to Hopkins BCMB a few weeks ago, and Hopkins Human Genetics last saturday.

decisions, decisions.

@n1s2k9 I was at Weill Cornell this past weekend too. They have some great research going on there and I think that the interview weekend was just too chaotic to really let that shine through. My biggest concern is the 6-6.5 year avg time to degree, and I talked to a few grad students who were in their 6th year, and still going! This school was one of my top choices when I applied. If I get in, I’m still going to seriously consider it, but that 6.5 year figure is a large deterrent to me.

@BMC 2011 Did you get an admissions package following the phone call for Hopkins BCMB? I think they told me I will get one but I never did…

Accepted into Wisconsin MDTP as of today. This leaves me deciding between Wisconsin, Michigan and Einstein.

Has anyone heard from UChicago? I interviewed Jan. 13-14 so it’s been awhile. Or UW @ Seattle? I remember at UW they said they were going to wait until all the interview weekends before meeting to decide but I’m getting anxious.

@phirah- Just saw your post and emailed SO to check the mail. I got a Harvard BPH rejection too, bummer.

Just finished interviewing at the Biomedical Sciences Program at The Wadsworth Center/SUNY Albany and it was fantastic. Since it’s based at the state public health department, I think it’s not really on the academic radar but is a really impressive program. For people applying/reapplying next year, I’d really recommend checking it out if you’re interested in translational, health-related research. Now, of course, more waiting…

@BMC2011, I was just at the second interview weekend for JHU BCMB and they told us that they don’t send out acceptances until after all of their interviews are completed (including international skype interviews, and people who rescheduled for alternate times). My guess is that, since you have been accepted, if you were an exceptional applicant they will invite you earlier. Just wondering about how long after your recruitment weekend did you receive an invite? Thanks!

Also, for those of us who missed Weill’s main interview weekend, did anyone do their skype interview today? How’d it go? Mine is tomorrow and I was just wondering about how the format of the interview was.

@kp12746

I was at the first JHU BCMB weekend, and I got accepted a week later.

@microcycle

BPH rejection paaaartaaaaaaaaay.

Meanwhile, got my second official rejection–an email from UMass Medical. Again, at this point, I figure I’m not getting an interview if I haven’t heard from you, so why wait this long?

@phirah

Arggg, I’ve been checking UMass Med all day since the first gradcafe rejections started showing up. Nothing yet… not cool!

On another note I interviewed at Roswell Park last week was told that I had been accepted when I met with the graduate director. The presidential fellowship is attractive too… I think 30K in Buffalo cost of living adjustments turn out to be 61k! Sixty. One. Thousand. Dollars.
