hi memymuse: the specific program was integrated biology, although I’m not sure if it makes any difference. they do not mention the program name in the admission letter, only (sort of): congrats to the admission to the Division of Basic Science etc…

Do schools send offer of admission first before they send out rejections (i’m talking about post-interviews)?

@ashmaniac09 Oh i see !
thats great congrats!!

UW Pathobiology rejects are out…

Would be more disappointed if I hadn’t been getting strong positive hints from various profs at another program all day. Still hard to have 2 rejects and no firm offers yet. Just ready for the waiting to be over!

My wrap up post…

Anyone else heard from UCSD biological sciences?

I got a call from UCSD Biological Sciences (and several other people I know) last evening. I also heard from Harvard MCB.

Yea I got a call from UCSD Biosciences with an acceptance last night as well: they left a message. I haven’t gotten an e-mail as of yet, though, so I wouldn’t worry.

Off to Stanford on Wednesday… pretty pumped.

what do you guys make of my options:

Baylor TBMM
Mount Sinai
Cleveland Clinic
UCLA MMP

not really sure how these stack up in terms of reputation, rigor, etc

any thoughts would be much appreciated

@ ashmaniac09 : Are you an international applicant? Do u have any clue if UTSW has stopped sending offers?

yes I am an international applicant, but I don’t know if they are done sending offers…

Has anyone heard back that interviewed for UCSF stem cell and dev bio program? I’m assuming that the people who posted about UCSF so far were from the BMS group…

baylor college CMB 2nd interview invite! i thought i was done as i didn’t do really well in the 1st interview and i saw someone on gradcafe had already had their 2nd round. anyway, i thought all interviews were over and all of a sudden i need to get myself ready again!

Quite the day: penn state hershey acceptance and unc chapel hill rejection

Mount Sinai
Has anyone had phone interviews with Mount Sinai. If yes, could you please tell me how it went i.e no. of interviewers, time, did they ask more about their research or you research.
I would REALLY appreciate it.

Thanks

Ok I’ve made up my mind where I’m going, so here’s my end of season summary:

GPA = 3.89
GRE = 1280
Research = 3.5 years
Two papers in review, 3 conference presentations, and 2 research scholarships.

Applied: WashU STL Genetics, Johns Hopkins BCMB and Human Genetics, UMichigan Human Genetics, UTSW, UCLA ACCESS, and UCBerkeley MCB

Interviewed: WashU STL Genetics, Johns Hopkins BCMB, UMichigan Human Genetics, and UCBerkeley MCB (declined interviews at JHU Human Genetics, UTSW, and UCLA ACCESS)

Admitted: WashU STL Genetics, Johns Hopkins BCMB, UMichigan Human Genetics, and UCBerkeley MCB

Rejected: None

Attending: Berkeley!! :)

@firework11: Why did you ultimately choose Berkeley?? I’m trying to make up my mind between a couple of programs and Berkeley is one of them. I’m just so confused at this point!

Nice choice firework! I interviewed for a different program at Berkeley but met with a couple of the MCB people, and I was very impressed.

siRNAgirl, I cannot speak for Sinai specifically but I had three phone interviews for a program over the last week: one conference call with 4 admissions profs, one with a student, and one with the head of the program. Hopefully you will have a one-on-one because multiple interviewers is very tough. I would finish talking, and then there would be a pause of about ten seconds before one of the four of them asked a follow up question. People kept getting disconnected from the call and were having a hard time rejoining. It was very choppy and awkward. Without pictures and diagrams, it is hard to talk about research for a long time, so we ended up discussing other things a lot (classes, rotations, funding, “how does this program fit with your overall career goals?” “is there any here that you would be particularly interested in working with?” “where else are you looking at?”). Just try to be as energetic/friendly as possible and make your personality and passion shine through.

Anyone hear back from weill Cornell? I think they should be sending out offers this weeK

I’m still waiting on weill cornell’s pharmacology dept; expecting a reply by the end of the week.
