2011 UCLA Transfers: The Central Thread for Discussion and Decisions

Just the email so far here.

I got a call, no email yet though.

I’m wondering if EFC has an effect on the e-mail/call, my EFC is about 5000? I have a 3.87 but haven’t gotten either, my fin aid stuff showed up on the 15th and I can’t log on to myUCLA (I’m not going to mess with summer session stuff to check that haha).

I got both an email and call but I haven’t messed with any of the log in stuff. Why can’t they just release the decisons? I am gonna have a heart attack!! :(

@ella89

Without getting too specific… Any quick comments on my essays? I took a risk by not tackling the prompts head-on (though I feel that both essays addressed both prompts, in a sense), and I took a risk by discussing some controversial elements I’ve been involved with.

I feel like they will either work, or they’ll backfire (i.e., they’ll harm me, rather than just being “not good enough,” if that makes sense).

I know it doesn’t really matter, of course, but I’m getting pretty antsy over here.

@nick-one of my essays was very controversial and now I regret writing it, I hope it doesn’t backfire :/

volume12- what was the essay about?

What were the emails and phone calls about?

Trust me!!! (Speaking from personal experience!) =[

They recommend keeping your GPA the same as when you were admitted.

They suggest getting no lower than a B! They might let a C slide, but you have to report it to them ASAP! I got a couple of C’s in some elective classes my last semester and got revoked! Trust! UCLA won’t hesitate to revoke you if you fail to meet their contact. Say good bye to your hopes and dreams. (lol)

But remember ALL contracts are different! My friend got in as a pre-psych major (3.7) and she had to get all A’s on her classes (18 units)

My other friend got in as a Econ major (3.9ish) and had the same contract.

@323GUY Aw man, I completed all but 1 pre-req for Pre-Psy major which I am currently taking right now. I think getting an A in Physics would be impossible for me. However, I got A’s for the other pre-req… Hopefully a B is acceptable! ><

I got an email

Good sign or no? I still cant see FA/Tracking/ or Housing lol

@Nick, I’m at work now and can use the computer, I’ll PM you in like 15min

Awww man!! All this anxiety is preventing me from studying and it is gonna ruin my grades!! Do you guys think it is better that I drop a class or get a C/maybe a B if I work my ass off

@lehana Don’t worry about it! Contracts vary! It all depends on your educational plan. For example my other friend got in with a 2.9 and on dropped a class during spring so she was put on a contract to get all B’s and retake that class during summer.

Another girl got in as a pre-psych and did not complete one pre-req and still got admitted!

I am seriously am not trying to discourage or scare anyone. I am just saying it how it is. Good luck to all of us and instead of worrying about the decisions lets hit the books, and no I don’t mean facebook. lol

anyone have a link to last year’s thread handy? dont feel like searching it up

Does everybody get the email or just a few people get it? I have not received any phone call but I got the email telling me to apply for the scholarship.

When did you get that email??

I got nothing do you think it has anything to do with my FA being incomplete? Cause I havent updated it with my parents taxes yet…

I think I received at around 2:30pm. I did not file any FA because I am not qualified for FA.

Via my UCLA mentor: SOME decisions starting monday at 4.

Please don’t eat me if theyre wrong!
