2011 UCLA Transfers: The Central Thread for Discussion and Decisions

@Nick, of course you are… They deal with the straight forward people first. My friend has a crazy high GPA in women’s studies. She JUST got into UCR because she’s a legal green card student from south Africa. People with the more obscure applications are obviously going to be handled last.

Recall that one person on here who got accepted last year did not even have their finanical aid info updated till the day after she was admitted.

So, as I’ve said earlier, while having this info visible might be a positive sign, NOT seeing means absolutely nothing and no cause for concern AT ALL.

It might be random, alphabetical or some other method they use to allocate the files. Personally, I think they shuffle the files and then assign a bunch to an admissions officer.

@ella, how exciting working at ucla!

Last year there were People who were pending and then like 3 days later they checked their URSA and financial info showed up and they were admitted that night.

does anybody know what the provisions of the contract is if you get in? Like would they take away my admission if I got a C in one of my classes?

@transferoutt, I’m not working! I’m doing a summer program. Getting paid 600 dollars to live there for 6 weeks  I’m so excited.

Check it out: Smdep.org

Btw to all of you, I’m a big advocate of summer programs, if I get into UCLA it will be because the summer program I did there last summer. Please look into it, there are many opportunities available. You don’t need to be low income/URM either. Not many People are aware of them either, so they aren’t as competitive as scholarships.

i wish i never signed up for ursa…lol another thing to check obsessively. but i’m going to wait it out and not check anymore, i don’t see anything right now so what’s the point in sweating over it.

@ella what are your stats?

Is it monday yet?

I just got the email. Which I guess was surprising. Still not sure if I will be accepted since I didn’t do the entire Physics Prerequisite Series.

Major: Computer Science
GPA: 3.75

I wasn’t expecting to be accepted at all.
However, this gives me a little hope, lol.

Guys, this is another one of those “oh my god, I can do this, what do it?!?” things (sorry!) but I can access grades on myURSA (nothing shows up, but I wasn’t even permitted to do it before) AND when I click on Declare Degree Expected Term this shows up: “You are unable to declare candidacy by selecting your Degree Expected Term at this time. Please try again when the next quarter starts.” Before I always got something like “this function is unavailable to you.” Can anyone who also signed up for summer session NOT do this? Then it may mean something.

@ella, that is even more exciting! I wish I had known about it! Have fun :)

3.79 sociology: just when i was going to give up on ucla seeing how i basically havent been given any authority to log into myucla or ursa i get that alumni scholarship email. does it seriously not mean anything? odd that they would send potential free money to students who don’t have a chance/arent in?

but that might just be wishful thinking. /:

@volume - psych, ~3.6x?, no tap, I’m an EOPS student, I did a summer transfer program at UCLA last summer and I’m in Cal’s TAP program.

That program specifically I got into into because I’m a low income URM but there are many others that aren’t aimed towards underrepresented students.

Btw guys, sorry for my Spelling and grammar. I’m on my phone and it’s hard to catch these little mistakes.

Oh, just noticed that it is a medical and dental education program and I am a history major.

Why would they have people PERSONALLY call students (not just send automated messages) that are rejected anyway? That would be a waste of time…

Google programs at any school you like for history! There are so many for every field. Doesn’t need to be local, I almost did one at Colombia and UWash this summer too but I decided to stay local.

@deanza - compare who got a phone call compared to just an email.

Wait… so not all those who got an email got a call?

ella89-i got both a phone call and email
