2011 UCLA Transfers: The Central Thread for Discussion and Decisions

Well I eithier want to go to law school ( history has a great deal of writting and reading) or just go for a darn PhD and teach.

Feel free to punch me :D

And no…I am well below the median for psych…that def. did not help my stress.

@redo, 530  but I’ll have my phone, trust me, I’ll be around. I probably won’t check till after class though so I don’t have a mental break down in class. Although, I might, depending haha.

@cactus- I’m way below the median for psych, so you have company.

@redo and lmrojas, same here haha! Law school or teach, still deciding as well…

Its an average for a reason!

I know. I always tell myself that, and I’m like well that number got pulled down somehow so next year why shouldn’t it be me that pulls it down. We’ll see. Is it Monday yet?

Btw, if the decisions don’t come out on Monday… We need to have another sex talk in here or other wise my heart might stop from excessive stress.

oooo transferout and lmrojas! maybe if we go to school together we can meet up and discuss our career options (lol im serious). maybe study for the lsat a bit? hahahahaha yay cc!

and yeeahhh i guess its an “average for a reason” but with the increase in applicants coupled with the fact that dont colleges like to steadily increase their average numbers?!, i dont know if my chances are as good as yours haha.

and okay ella! ill keep a lookout for your posts! frack now i just want monday to get here.

edit: i would be down for that sex talk if monday doesnt rise to meet our expectations!!!

I had not started posting because I was looking at this site on the app on my phone (still cant figure out how to post) but that was pretty darn funny. College students, this is what we do.

Redo, do you have like a good PS or hardships or anything?

Hey Guys,
UCLA undergraduate admission emailed me in the mid-March asking for some documents to collect from my home country. “They said we are giving you ample amount of time to collect those documents and they will be needed in case you are admitted”.

SO, what do you guys think about this email? Is this just an email or a hint of something?
They asked me in March.

I got in last year as a LAS major. (3.2ish) So stop your non-sense! Ughhh!!!

I wish we can all just get into UCLA and bake a cake with all our happy feelings just like we were in HS! (reference to Mean Girls)

Sorry to say but I don’t think it means very much… They just noted you were an international student and asked for supplemental documents to complete your application, as I understand it. I know other applicants who received the same email even though they stand no chance at all of getting in.

eh, only person that looked over my personal statements was my english teacher and she said they were good…but that was only one person. and i do have a few decent ECs (including work) but i dont think im a stellar applicant. what i lack in stellarosity i hope to gain in luck :D

is it really hard to get into UCLA, or are we just stressing ourselves too much.
I say this because I was checking the profile of admitted students on UCLA’s website and it does seem very competitive, however I was looking at last year’s thread of admitted students and people with 3.4s were accepted under political science. According to the website 1,164 and only 351 got in. So i was thinking that only the higher gpas got in but it turns out that there were people with 3.4s and some with no tap.
I also saw some psych majors with gpas as low as 3.6 and no tap.

see for yourself

If we all get in, definitely redo! I’m down :D

@redoplease

A cold 168 LSAT is a ridiculously good LSAT score for your first time. It puts you about 3 or 4 questions away from the 25th percentile for Harvard Law. Pretty impressive with no practice.

[Class Profile and Fact Sheet](http://www.law.harvard.edu/prospective/jd/apply/classprofile.html)

I’m a History major as well. Set on law school and am currently studying the LSAT pretty intensely. Also considering maybe teaching CCC somewhere down the line. Looks like we’re all in the same boat mostly; teaching and law!

But, I’m not an international student…I am very much resident…and the document they asked for is nothing to do with my application. But, still I think I have some hope. :/

isnt UCLA just as hard to get into as Berkeley?

Are the bio majors impacted in ucla?

they are. More impacted than psychology and sociology if you look at the fall 2010 transfer profile.
