2011 UCLA Transfers: The Central Thread for Discussion and Decisions

HAHA^ I know I should. I put down Philosophy as my alternate. Seeing as I want to go into corporate finance, I don’t know whether keeping philosophy w/ accounting minor would be better or math/econ major

Same case as swagger for me… URSA says accept/deny , myucla says philosophy (alternate major) !

Cannot wait until the decisions site gets updated.

Have faith swagger, if URSA is giving you a SIR, you’re golden .

Accepted as philosophy major 3.8 ! And now my parents are pressuring me to go UCLA since they offered 5k more in financial aid!

Anyways seems like A LOT of philosophy majors got in ! If we all go to UCLA we are going to compete against one another D: … Let’s be friends ! Hahah congrats to all that got accepted. UCLA is definitely worth the work.

@swagger I knew you’d get in!! This is a good sign, it will become official soon

I remember last year there were people pending that ultimately got into UCLA with their alternate major, but not sure if that’s the same case this year.

Just got a email from UCLA Housing welcoming me, etc. Yet, they still haven’t updated the decisions site…wow

how about my case???

i’ve got

Feels good man

Any Asian american studies majors hear back yet? My friend is wondering.

Ok everyone, prepare to hear about someone getting completely screwed my UCLA admissions. I called today and they said the reason I was denied was because I was missing a major pre-req. However, I have completed the only pre-req offered at my CC. Their response was that I needed to be concurrently enrolled in another school that offered the pre-req. Nowhere does it say this, be it on assist.org, the UCLA website, or anywhere else. I talked to my schools transfer counselor and he said that he has never seen UCLA do this before, and that I should appeal the decision. My chances are still probably very slim, but I think I’m going to at least go down swinging. So for people applying next year, make sure you take your pre-reqs, even if they’re not offered at you school.

^AFAIK, it’s always only been an unofficial policy to not penalize a student for not having prerequisites not offered at his/her CCC.

Officially, you’re supposed to have them done–Assist doesn’t say “you only need to take what your CCC offers.” It looks like they followed their official policy in some cases this year.

i’ve heard of several instances where this has happened - applicants who have had great stores have been denied admission because they didn’t complete pre-reqs…even if they weren’t offered at the CC. the competition gets more and more intense each year and there are many people who complete all their pre-reqs by going to multiple CCs

Really shocked. Really stoked. I can’t even begin to describe how awesome it feels.

I’m In!!

Major: Pre-Economics

AHHHH!!!
