Accepted!!! Just found out today and it’s barely sinking in.

Can we only fill out a housing app after we commit? Or should i just wait til friday to see if i get into berkeley before filling out a form

Found out like maybe 2 hours earlier but I can say that I am OFFICIALLY ADMITTED!!! WOOOOO!!!

I have probably the lowest of low GPA but I don’t care. Got admitted to my alternative major though. :/

STATS:
Major: Women’s Studies (Alternative); wanted Comm Studies
GPA: 3.12-3.15
IGETC: Yes.
TAP: Yes. (This probably saved me)
EC: marketing internships @ CBS, WB, and prod co.s

Congrats to all who have already been accepted and to all who will be soon!! :)

Where does it say that you need to be concurrently enrolled in another school if your school does not offer all the pre-reqs? If UCLA or someone can show me it in writing, then I will accept it. But the counselor at my school said he has never seen them do this before, and it’s not like I was a borderline candidate. I have a 4.0 GPA and this is all over ONE class, so basically I’m going to fight this until the end.

I was accepted and am from a UC and am taking a cc course to fulfill the prereqs. I read somewhere unless the prereq is extremely limited to only very few schools, they expect u to take it around your area

This is what it says on the UCLA website regarding major prep courses:

You should complete as many preparatory courses as possible prior to transferring, based on the availability of the courses at YOUR COLLEGE.

It does not say anything about having to take courses at another school if yours does not offer them. I understand that it is recommended, evenly highly recommended, but if you are a qualified applicant for a non-impacted major then it doesn’t seem right to hold you to something that isn’t specified anywhere. Or am I taking crazy pills here?

did anyone get in with a C by the time they applied? i might get a C and i am about to explode… it is not my pre-req and i have 4.0 GPA so far, but that C… is gonna drop my GPA. Is C horrible? are 2 Bs better??? AHHHHHHHHH someone please help.

I got a C before I applied. Just 1 C though (Political Science)…

sometimes I wonder why i even took it

I hadn’t seen that policy before. With that in mind I’d give an appeal a shot, but a wouldn’t get my hopes up. What it will come down to is the actual basis on which you were denied. E.g., was it:

1) He’s missing a prerequisite, so he’s automatically disqualified. We’ll go ahead and admit students with significantly lower GPAs, but all prerequisites completed.
2) He’s missing a prerequisite, and there’s a ton of other students who have the same or higher GPA and all prerequisites. If only he had that last prereq, we’d admit him.

I suspect it was the second. The person you talked to might have made it sound like the first, but I think the people manning the phone banks are student workers. They just read the brief notes in your file.

However, if the appeals committee determines that it was the first, they might grant your appeal. Like I say, it’s worth a shot. Just be sure to SIR at your second choice campus in case they don’t answer your appeal in time.

@iZychr
wat was ur GPA? tap certified? accepted for 2011 FALL?

anyone got a C by the time they applied and still got accepted?

Friend got in with almost 28k in aid (EEC of 0). I didn’t know UCLA gave out full-rides for non-regents. But congrats to all who made it. Cal time :)

EDIT: Ah, my bad. She received 9k in subsidized loans and work study. Well, 19k still doesn’t seem that shabby. Anyone got more than that?

Got my decision a couple hrs ago too. Been celebrating. Thanks again everyone, went against all the ‘trick trends’

@Pinoiako916 No TAP for me.

Hey can you guys view your Financial Aid? Mine says they haven’t received my Fafsa or something like that.

I think that you need to sir.

Yeah, I saw that it said either they didn’t receive it or I have to SIR. That’s sneaky! What if they don’t give me anything! Then again, it is UCLA. . .

congrats swag… i was feeling bad for you… i would have hated to be in your shoes during those times of waiting, but on the bright side, it makes the acceptance all that more special.

I got accepted as a biochem major

overall GPA: 3.848
no TAP
pre-reqs:missing ochem series
Essay: average imo

Unfortunately, I am stuck between UCLA and UCSD. I am planning to visit their respective departments before I make my decision.
