I took APES last year. It was the only AP exam I ever got a 5 on. (in my history of AP exams, I’ve gotten one 1, two 2’s, two 3’s, four 4’s, one 5(apes)) Our teacher was a first time AP teacher and because of this our class wasn’t really AP organized. toward the end of the year we did practice frqs and a practice exam but mostly it was just fun interesting stuff… like we went out and caught insects, did eco-columns… fieldtrips…

The APES practice exam we took was harder than the actual exam. I remember a lot of pollutants matching and consequences of those pollutants questions. some advice, go into the test feeling like a lorax.

The prep book I used was Princeton Review which I crammed a few weeks before. My twin crammed only the big units the night before and still got a 5.

hope this helps y’all and good luck!

Anybody have any good links for notes, vocabulary, or past tests? Thank You!

Yay for cramming.

I honestly don’t think it will be too bad. We did the official APES practice exam at the beginning of the year which is a lot tougher than the actual test. I did pitifully on it. Our final exam was the official 2008 released exam and I got a 97 on it. There were about 25 matching questions which were things like matching pollutants to descriptions, biomes to descriptions, etc. And the multiple choice were relatively straight forward, along the lines of what causes certain types of pollutions, definitions, etc.

Can someone briefly describe and differentiate easterlies (polar easterlies) and a westerly?? thnx

They are named from where they originate. Easterlies originate in the eastern hemisphere and flow to the west; the opposite is true for westerlies.

Ohh I see… thanx!

How much will wind be tested on the AP exam?

Can someone PM if they have the 2008 APES exam? or any practice exam for that matter. I already have the 1998 one.

I used to have 2003 and 2008 but I cannot seem to find them anymore. If I recall the 2008 was VERY similar to the 1998. Matching questions revolved around pollutants, biomes, and waste management. The multiple choice questions were similar in that they were pretty broad and the ones that were very specific (IE which of the following have a negative effect) had very obvious answers.

@knight probably very little. Questions relating to it will more likely be about El Nino/La Nina, the rainshadow effect, and that wind power is the fastest growing renewable resource.
