We’re a little slow in the US. ;)

Still waiting for you north of the border, dstark.

My next year’s plan has a maximum out-of-pocket of $5,000 per family. It is from my wife’s employer, and has no premium. (None!). It has an attached HSA, which gives us $1,400 in free money from the employer. Since we will actually spend $3,600 in the first month, the rest of the year is free - even pharmaceuticals. The HSA allows us to save $7,250 tax-free from her paycheck. It can be spent on things like “medically necessary gym membership.”

We’re not north of the border, but close! LOL! (But the quality of care is better up there as well.)

that’s a nice gig mini…

I am not sure why taxpayers are subsidizing your wife’s health care. ;)

Because they aren’t. I will not be on the government plan, but on my wife’s nice private insurance plan offered by her employer, which is significantly better than my government plan (which is still great). Her employer will be subsidizing MY health care, and that of my two adult children. (The gov’t offered me almost the same plan, but with an $86 month premium for the four of us, and an $8,400 out-of-pocket limit.)

(Hospice nurses are in such great demand, they’ll do almost anything - well, not ANYTHING - to keep them. Except hire as many as they really need - they just can’t find them.)

Last year we had a 20% increase. This year premiums went down $140 for the year.

We are switching from an HMO to a medium deductible (2k/4k) with HSA this year. Mostly to make services more available to our launched offspring, but also because mom and dad almost NEVER use healthcare. We should be doing a little more in surveillance/prevention, and I am hoping to check this out, and/ or take care of some before the end of the current coverage.

The 7250…tax free…is taxpayer supported…

Northeastmom…you have a premium decrease? I have no idea what that is…I have never seen one. :)

Do you mean a $5,000 out of pocket maximum, or a $5,000 deductible?
