** 2012 UCSD Transfer Decisions Thread **

@Nitole Thanks a lot for the valuable information. I just checked my UC app and i found out that for some reason i clicked on yes when asked abotu IGETC certification. I think when i call them tomorrow they will change my admission decission right?

^No problem. I think as long as you notify them about the mistake and express you JUST noticed it then it is less likely to be an issue. I mean they could see all your classes when you applied, and if they didnt notice the mistake immediately then you must have completed at least a good portion of it. I dont think they would reject you just because you have to take a few more GE classes. Keep us posted with what happens and good luck! I think it’ll be fine though :slight_smile: Just dont forget to notify them first thing tomorrow morning!

did anyone else get accepted off the waitlist?

I got accepted off the waitlist a while back at 3.38 GPA Sociology

@lawlking: Congrats!!! :)

The phone line to send AP scores is not available until July 1. Since UCSD needs all score by july 15, will my score make it to UCSD in time? If not, what other ways are there to send the score?

@pchiang08 I think it will be sent in time, cause we still have 2 weeks for it to get sent after July 1st. There is another way, but your AP scores have to be over 4 years old. You can print/fill out a form requesting 4+ year old AP scores and either fax or mail the form ($25 per college).

can someone clarify/answer this question for me

I went to University High School (in LA) for one semester (9th grade first semester), transferred to Van Nuys High School and graduated from there. I also went to Fairfax High School for two summer school sessions (2007 and 2009). Both Fairfax and University show up on my Van Nuys High School transcript (I have an unofficial copy) and it shows the classes + grades I got. Would it be okay if I just send only my Van Nuys High School transcript since it includes the 2 other schools?

Okay question. I put in a request for my igetc certification at my community college two weeks ago and it hasn’t been sent out yet. I’m wondering if ucsd uses the date on the envelope or if the envelope with igetc has to be in their hands by July 15?

^ I’ve been wondering the same thing myself.

@actraiin
@nitole

They want the igetc envelope postmarked on or by July 15. I requested to have mine sent June 13 and my junior college says it takes 4-6 weeks T_T
Seriously? It’s ridiculous.

I turned in my application for IGETC to the transfer center at my CC (SBCC) and within 4 days i got an email that said my IGETC was approved and has been sent to UCSD lol.

^^ wow! My community college said to allow two weeks and it’s approaching three weeks!! Seriously?? Does it really take that long to check classes off a list?!

@actraiin dunno how they do the igetc certification process, but yeah takes about a month to get it ready and sent -____-

wow I just found out I might get revoked if I don’t send in my high school transcript by the deadline, but the thing is, my high school’s last day of class was May 28th and it’s closed until August (no summer school at Van Nuys this year). I found out my acceptance on June 13th, so I can’t even do anything about this situation except wait until the school opens…are you ****ing kidding me

^^ you sure the whole campus is closed? Usually at least one of the administrative offices are open throughout the summer. I know my high school didn’t have summer school but they counseling office was open so I was able to request my transcript

k ignore my little frustration post. i found a way to possibly get my transcript in before the deadline.

question though, if you get sent an official transcript to your home address, what do i need to do to send it to UCSD?

@Actraiin yeah i just got in contact with the dean of my high school through email and he said the offices were closed until the end of July. Thankfully, he said he was going to try and send me my transcript if he is able to. If not, he said "If and when I can confirm time staff will be in office to process, I will let you know. " hopefully everything will be done before the July 15th deadline. crosses fingers

hey guys I have a major problem I might get rescinded because I just found out I might not pass calc. I just finished my last final and the grades haven’t been officially posted yet but on my calc class website it showed I got D+ with only 1 point away from passing. I’m devastated and I really don’t know what to do… I really want to go to UCSD :frowning: I emailed the teacher pleading to be passed but thats like 0.0001 chance. I took 23 units this quarter 5 out of it is calc the rest I know I will get As, is it possible for UCSD to look past my D+ and still accept me? I tried to find the conditions of admission page but I can’t find it now… I remember calling them before and they said the only important thing is that I maintain an overall gpa of 3 and a gpa of 2 for the last quarter, but I’m pretty sure I have to pass all my classes. I’m sorry for this super long post, I’m super stressed!! :’(

^This is what i’ve gotten after calling UCSD and talking to their reps, and researching here on CC. However, call UCSD and talk to an admissions rep to completely verify your own specific situation.

In short, you will not be rescinded if you maintain your end of the admissions contract.This includes these couple of specific points I will elaborate on from my understanding of them.

1) Maintain the required spring GPA in their contract (a 2.0) and overall GPA (3.0 or 3.5)

probably the most straightforward thing. If you failed one class, but did good in the others, then yeah…it just happens sometimes to everyone and UCSD understands that. Failing a majority of your classes (getting <2.0) is not understandable.

2) Still meet the 60 unit requirement.

This is a dead set requirement. If you fail a class and end up going below 60 Units, you’re out of luck. Remember, this is only UC transferable units as well. If you fail a non UC transferable class, then it shouldn’t affect your admission.

3) Pass all your subject requirements

Subject requirements are listed on your contract: 1 math class, 2 english classes,4 courses from the subject areas. If you failed one of these classes in your last semester, your out of luck. From what I’ve seen, people confuse these classes with major requirements. Remember that UCSD doesn’t accept by major (except impacted majors), and therefore don’t base your admission on how many major requirement courses you’ve completed. If you failed a major pre-req class, that failing grade wouldn’t be a bigger factor than failing a non pre-req class. You still need to maintain your contract either way or you will be rescinded.

Please remember this is mostly just my understanding of how to determine if you will get rescinded or not. Call UCSD and talk to them, and then share what they said to you specifically so it can benefit future students in your situation (which actually is a very stressful situation to be in).
