2014 PSAT Practice Test

<p>I was thinking maybe we can start a discussion/explanation of the answers, because I don’t think the practice test came with explanations…</p>

<p>On Section 3 (Reading), can someone explain the answer choices for #31, #32, and #39 and why the correct answer is the best one?</p>

<p>31)Correct answer: C. Proponents of neuroscience would most likely claim that “neuroscience these days views brain chemistry and anatomy as having a greater impact on human behavior and the formation of character than free will does” (taken directly from passage 2). In passage 1, the New Year’s Resolutions are characterized as wishes for self-improvement originating from free will. Using these two bits of informations, it can be determined that C is the correct answer because research in neuroscience suggests that “brain chemistry and anatomy,” may shape character and human behavior more so than free will, thereby making New Year’s resolutions negligible. </p>
