2014 SCEA hopefuls?

This may be a dumb question, but do most Yalies (or any college student for that matter) usually go/fly home for Thanksgiving break?

And I’m assuming residential colleges are closed over winter break/spring break, right?

If so, it’s just kinda weird that you would have to fly home twice within a month’s time, lol.

i heard that some students who live too far away or who just dont want to make the trip back for only a week stay at yale and get invited to thanksgiving at a professors house.

that sounds like much fun!

mann this sounds so bad but when i’m in college, i doubt that i would visit home often

i can’t believe that i’m never ever ever ever ever ever gonna live with my mom again

whoa! I never thought of that – that we’re [most probably] never going to live [for extended amounts of time] in our current homes, ever again.

D:

ehh there’s always summer :D

haha yeahh.
im only planning on going home four times a year, regardless of where i end up.
thanksgiving, christmas, spring, summer.

maybe homecoming weekend because alum band members get to play with the high school band, which is always fun.

i just got an email requesting my alum Yale interview. I had an “on campus” interview, so I am kind of surprised, but glad. I’ll keep you posted…urrggg…I hope I don’t come across ditsy :-)

^Ah! Emily! I’m so glad to shared that <3 <3 <3
I was worried I wasn’t going to get an alum interview by now, but maybe I will! Yay on campus interviews! :]

my interviewer did tell me she had to get the write up into Yale by Dec. 1st, so there is one more week for early decision interviews to take place. I keep telling myself-I will be happy where ever I land…right??? :-)

Did anyone talk about current events and/or personal opinions on issues at their interviews?
I really don’t find the time to keep up with the news nowadays.

^they really shouldn’t ask you that kinda stuff. really biased

i did not stand to infest my interview with dumb politics. hellooooo it’s all about me

Well they might ask you questions about things that pertain to your interests. If you are interested in politics, international affairs, then yes they might ask for your opinion on some current issues. But it wouldn’t be like they are testing your knowledge but rather it’s more like a conversation.

^pigsatsea
lol, that’s a good way to look at it!
Thanks, guys… I was worried… considered reading newspapers/researching online, haha probably wouldn’t have done it anyway
Wish me luck!

hi guys!

so ive kinda been stalking this thread since its long past beginnings  but ive never actually posted! BUT here I am, absolutely FREAKING out, finding myself hopeless as I await the early action decisions. i love yale, and i DEEPLY hope (just like all of you) that I can be found on campus next year. gahhhhhh everyone seems so amazing, my chances seem SUPER slim. :frowning: i also had an on-campus interview earlier this year. not too sure how it went, i kinda rambled on a lot. i havent received an alumni interview. i submitted on oct 31. so there’s my life story!

SO NERVS.

awwwww, eaten don’t worry you will be fine. I know how you feel!
hang in there!!!

@mynci, it depends on your major. i had a full convo with one of my interviewers about health insurance (luckily, he agreed with me), and a convo with my alum interviewer about the psychological effects of the current situation in darfur.

granted, i brought it up because my declared major was either psych or philosophy and i self professed a love for human rights.

I still haven’t been contacted for an interview :(. I guess its not going to happen…

no interview for me either…
although one of the teachers who wrote my rec went to yale…
could that be why?..

That’s probably not why - most likely, they either don’t have an interviewer in your region or they have so many applicants from your area that the interviewers don’t have time
