2014 SCEA hopefuls?

Yale. My antidrug.

Drugs. My Yale Antidrug.

i don’t get what an antidrug is

lol, have you not seen the commercials?
an antidrug is basically something that prevents you from doing drugs. For example, my antidrug is… basketball.

ohhh ok i get it noww lol

ahhh 24 more days<33333

Yayy Yale is winning so far! Bulldogs are awesome! :D

@ 2010 emily: haha i got the coca cola semi letter in the mail today too! your link didnt work for me though? supposedly they list the semis from each state…is that it?

darn I shouldve applied for that. was the application extensive?

ug.

has anyone else given up trying to lie to themselves by saying that its about what you do when you get into college, not where you go?

because i’m self - confident and happy, and yet i still sort of feel like my self worth is tied to this application

i feel like 100% of my self worth is tied to my application. :[
it’s like all i live for these days

since I pretty much screwed up my essays by writing them several hours before the early deadline…if I get rejected then I can console myself by saying that I would’ve definitely done better with better essays. even if I probably would’ve gotten rejected anyways. haha.

^aww don’t worry about that too much. lol you literally wrote everything hours before the deadline? or ru exaggering a little?

I finished my first essay in the morning, started the second one shortly thereafter and finished editing it at 11:00pm. procrastination ftw :] even though the second one turned out atrociously lol

aww geez. i wonder what percentage of applicants do their essays in the same manner

northcountry yeah, the link just lists the winners from each state. The application wasn’t bad, but the next phase is more extensive. But at least I have Thanksgiving break to work on it.

pigs - me too. probably not a lot, although I do remember seeing frantic threads popping up on nov.1st from people like me freaking out about their essays. can’t remember if it was on the yale board or not though
I know some ppl that finished their essays in august and submitted their apps in september…

i finished my essay the early morning before i went to yale (oct 19) for a student interview (also found out that i write best from 2-4am :)).

i feel as if writing the essay closer to the deadline instead of September is beneficial because you find a lot about yourself in the first few months of senior year. if i had written and essay and submitted in september, i dont think it would be like poorly written or anything, just less personal.

but that might just be me. i guess it also has to do with the fact that i got to go on a kairos retreat before the app was due.

that’s true…maybe the optimal time for college essays is around mid-october. close enough to the deadline that you feel some pressure, but far enough away that you’re not in freakout mode yet…
I just think 1 hour before deadline was a little much for me lol.

lol, I’m one of those people who wrote my essay, a long time ago and didn’t apply until the last week.

I finally got an interview call today out of the blue! I’m really excited & nervous & don’t no how to prepare !!!

If anyone has any advice/tips/suggestions from their SCEA interview, I would appreciate it
Also, has anyone had to discuss current events/news/opinions on issues? Should I be able to speak on these topics?
( I know there’s a separate interview thread, which I browsed through, but I wanted your opinions!)
