bahahha christian- it’s america. banning alcohol just isn’t plausible…and NO politician with any hope of election would take an anti-alcohol stance. its part of the culture.

if anything, I think the drinking age should be lowered (I DO come from a dry household. no one in my family drinks like AT ALL and these are my own conclusions) because binge drinking among high school/college kids is extremely dangerous. if you look at europe, yes teenagers drink, but in general they drink more responsibly than american teenagers because its just not that big of a deal to them. in america, when a high schooler has access to alcohol, he is going to go ahead and drink himself drunk because its a relatively rare opportunity.

to sum up, lower/abolish drinking age to reduce binge drinking

I don’t think the amount of teenage alcohol abuse in this country has anything to do with the drinking age; in fact, I believe that binge drinking can be wholly attributed to American culture. The U.S. has always been a culture of BIGGER IS BETTER/more is more, and people just simply cannot control themselves. For the same reason, the U.S. has the worst obesity crisis in the world. I think that simply lowering the drinking age would just lead to binge drinking at a younger age.

I’m with plumdum. If you lower the drinking age in America, people will just start getting wasted sooner. Alcohol isn’t the problem; idiocy is. I’m just saying we should give idiots one less way to hurt themselves, and that responsible people suck it up and go without alcohol for the idiot’s sake.

Also, I’m not looking down on idiots or anything. In many ways, I consider myself one.

guys I have a non-yale related problem:
so I just checked my application status for harvard, and I realized I reported my subject test as “math level IIC” instead of “math level II” and now harvard’s status page is saying that they received a math level II official report, but also a math level IIC unofficial report. ***FF!!!

^I don’t think it will be a problem. They’ll figure out that mathIIC doesn’t exist anymore… I hope. I have a similar problem in that I used score choice on my SAT score report to opt out a low score, but then I forgot to do that on the common application, so now one of the scores is also listed as “unofficial”:(. I hope I won’t have to spend another 10 dollars to mail in another score report.

whats the d between math II and math IIC? I hope Math II isn’t easier, because I took Math IIC a LONG time ago. I could easily get 800 now, but my score previously was 750, so I felt like it wasn’t low enough to retake. (I know you disagree, Christian :P)

I don’t get home until 8:30 on the 15th…
I think I will turn my phone off starting at 5 so I don’t get texts from my friends saying “I GOT IN!!” or “…i didnt get in” which will only make me more nervous

how are you guys going to cope with the stress from 7 am (or whenever you wake) to 5 pm on the 15th??

^ I think Math IIC was the precursor to Math II. The C stands for calculator, i believe. But obviously, now they all use calculators so I guess it was just redundant to say Math IIC.
