This is so entertaining to read. Also: LOL.

Why don’t we just congratulate pigs on getting such excellent news so early? Then, on December 15, we can truly celebrate. ;)

Why don’t we just congratulate pigs on getting such excellent news so early? Then, on December 15, we can truly celebrate. ;)

I agree with Rocker (as always)

If this is indeed true, as unlikely as it seems, then many congratulations to Pigs. I have a feeling even if she does end up being rejected then she will inform us otherwise, but that is mere speculation on my part.

I can’t help but feel like this Pigswhooping is getting excessive though. People are deliberately winding her up and she’s doing the same. And I don’t think just “being annoying” warrants moderators being involved. You can always block an individual user if someone is annoying you that much…

I’m with Freshie on this one. The majority (and the majority knows who they are) is really overreacting.

Come on. Even if you find Pigs annoying, arrogant, or immature (and I’d dispute that), it’s not against the forum rules to be annoying, arrogant, or immature. Contacting adcom reps and moderators all because someone is bugging you and making what you find outlandish claims is just childish. This thread, especially the majority’s response, reminds me of second grade.

Certain people’s attempts to make pseudo-mature remarks like “I hope this is not indicative of the sort of people at Yale” are just laughable. God forbid somebody you don’t like should spoil this paradise that you’ve imagined Yale to be (and I’m not saying Yale isn’t great, but some of you have comically high expectations of what Yale is). Those same people’s insistence that somebody is arrogant for not sharing their slavish subservience to Yale is similarly amusing.

I have a very good book for you all to read called The Crucible. It’s about what happens when people are too apprehensive.

pigs-once again I hope that all you are saying is real and that you DO get in.

HOWEVER, there is no reason to get nasty and cocky like you have been. So, be excited and confident all you want, but just tone it down for the rest of us
thanks

Okay, I am trying to take another topic…anyone with me?
I am sure this one has been discussed before, and I know that residential colleges are designated, but if you guys do have the choice, which college would you most want to be in? Of course, most of us will live in the college starting our sophomore years.
JE has some great facilities, and Ezra Stiles looks so post-modern (an alumna told me her friends there couldn’t find a regular space for storage!); Branford seems so typically old-school, and Silliman seems to have the best meals~
I am most familiar with Calhoun so that may be my first choice~I think we all agree that they are cultural microcosms themselves.

I would hate to be assigned to Stiles or Morse. After finally getting into Yale, those two constitute the biggest slap in the face imaginable. :P

^^^I’ll bite…My top three residential colleges are

Berkeley-i love the fact that they streak
Morse-no right angles makes me smile
Davenport-they have a GNOME as a mascot

They all rock though

Hello Yale-ies!

I am a Stanford SCEA applicant, and since we’re all in the same boat, I thought I would wish you all luck on Tuesday!

I can’t believe decisions come in 1 week!

Alas, dear Stanford!

I wanted to beat your thread in post count, but for all the arguments, I have failed!

I’ll catch up with the deferrees among you in RD.

Hey Anonymous! Good luck at Stanford!! :)

As for residential colleges, I’ve only been to one and that was Silliman and it was beautiful, so I’m going to say that’s where I want to be!

I can’t believe decisions are only a week either. I’m RD but still… it’s all going by so fast.

Anonymous93–Tell everyone on the Stanford thread GOOD LUCK!!! BEST BEST BEST OF LUCK!!

OHHHH residential colleges. my FAV. okay. So like, obviously, if I get in, this will be the last thing on my mind. But if I had to pick =] hahah
1.Branford
2.Berkeley
3.WHATEVER.IT’SYALE. hahahahah.

I’m a Branford girl. Nothing to do with Rory Gilmore, I’m sure. hahahah. But it’s GORGEOUS. ANd I love that Harkness Tower is like RIGHT THERE.

I’m a big fan of this subject change. Can we all get along nicely now? We’re all gonna have different opinions and viewpoints and all that. And this is a REALLY stressful time of the year. So, let’s make this a happy thread to encourage and support each other. Alrighty? :)

Good luck Anonymous3, as well!
I would be absolutely happy at any of the colleges, because that would mean I’m at Yale ![]()
Phew. I like this discussion on Res colleges much better than the last three or so pages.

nice choice of topic :)

I’d choose Pierson, but only because two of my friends are there. otherwise, I wouldn’t mind- they’re all fabulous. although i do agree with rocker- ES and morse would be my bottom choices :/

I thought it was Saybrook that stripped?
we are saybrook, watch us strip! lol I saw a video of them running around- hysterical :D

woohooo i’m seeing a bunch of smiley faces
GOOD SIGN. hahahahah

say what?
SAYBROOK. hahahah.

my yale interviewer was describing her experience at yale and the residential colleges and i promise, i had the biggest goofy grin on my face! haha! it all sounded SO PERFECT

anyways. GOOOOD LUCK YALL! I know a lot of us have finals coming up (…at least I do?! haha) and yale decisions coming out in a WEEK. EXACTLY! dang! is really overwhelming so just hang in there guys!!! =]

Gah, anyone else having these like mood swings? At times I feel like I have a great shot…other times its the exact opposite and I’m freaking out, wondering if I even stand a chance…*** HELP

^Yeah, I’m the exact same way! The day I submitted my application, I was so excited and eager to find out whether I’ll get in, but now I feel like I’m feeling super nervous and pessimistic. It’s got to be an universal experience.

Okay, I have a random question. Kind of dumb, but, how to you address your interviewer in an email when you first hear from him/her? Do you say “Dear Ms./Mr. Interviewer’s last name”, or “Hi first name last name”, or something else?

Just start your email with “Hello,” That’s what I would do, at least.

yes! me too! its killing me. i waffle between despair and overconfidence. I need some mood stabilizing medications

@megavortex- I feel the exact same way, and I know a lot of people do. I regularly go from high to low- one minute, I’m picturing the bulldog on the screen, then next I’m dreading the 15th with every ounce of my being

@calico- my yale interviewer’s first email was casual (he addressed me as hi ) so I said hi Mr. _ and then a somewhat casual, friendly greeting. but its up to you. doesnt matter that much really

Seven days…

Out of curiosity, anyone here from Hawaii? I’d like to meet the regional competition >: )
