2014 SCEA hopefuls?

Okay, thanks guys. I wasn’t sure because in the email, the person sounded really formal at the beginning with “Dear Ms.Calico… I would like to…” then went on to become really casual with lots of happy exclaimation points. I thought it would be weird if I started with “Dear Ms.Interviewer, I would like to…”:)

Wow rockermcr, how do you manage posting while you’re offline?

Always wished I could go visit Hawaii someday.

^ I set my status thingy to permanently offline. It comes in handy. :)

It’s so crazy that Dartmouth already announced its decisions… I can’t believe it’s all starting to happen…

^ I know Dartmouth, Penn, and Cornell are crazy!! I wish Yale was more spontaneous but I doubt its going to happen! I have my last final on the 16th so I 'll be done.YAHH! But I have quick questions for all you SCEAers: Have you guys applied to all your other school already? If not have you sent your reach school apps and are going to send in safeties after your Yale decision? For me I think I’ll wait until after 15th to send my apps.

@collegestress16: sorry if you guys were already having a convo, i don’t mean to butt in  i already applied to yale (<3), harvard, nw, and u of m (got into michigan…safety!) i don’t have the energy to apply anywhere else!
quick question: anyone here from michigan? :)

Hi everybody. I’m from the Stanford SCEA thread and just wanted to wish everyone here good luck on surviving 7 more days of wait and hopefully getting in.

^He’s trying to appease us.

Lol just kidding. Good luck to you too, sfg2014. I may end up seeing you at Stanford if I’m admitted RD. :)

sfg2014, thanks and good luck to you guys as well!! In one week the misery will all be over [except of course for the deferees… ]

Ahh I didn’t send a thankyou note to my interviewer either! I was definitely going to do that but I somehow ended up forgetting  My interview was almost a month ago but I still want to send him one…do you guys think it’ll be weird to send it after such a long time has passed?

so one of my close friends got admission to darthmouth today. its definitely starting to feel real now. but most of the kids from my school applied to either stanford yale or mit early so i haven’t heard of anyone being rejected which would make it more real, although those results are obviously not desirable.

ive officially decided that, instead of waiting to come home to my decision at 7, im going to have my dad text me when they are up at 2 (west coast time).
i will not be able to make it through my dress rehearsal for the holiday concert without knowing lol

I agree chibistar, I almost fear deferral more than rejection (almost).

SILLIMAN
is the best by far! :D

I like Berkeley, Branford, Saybrook, or any of the traditional Gothic buildings  Morse/Stiles aren’t exactly my first choice but hey, as long as I can get into Yale, I’d be happy with any :)

greetings from Stanford!

Rocker made a good point before in our thread where he said we should join forces, i mean our threads are almost like OMG i’m so nervious yet i cant wait to hear back from _____ + random unrelated topics that are pretty universal

I think a joint SECAers thread might be a cool idea, i mean you guys all seem awsome and I would totally be down with waiting for D-Day with you guys as well as my fellow Stanford-ers…

sfg: That’s because deferral is the more likely outcome. In April, I’m sure we’ll all be scared of rejection.

does yale ever defer then waitlist??

^ probably, though that would be absolutely terrible…think about it…over 8 months of waiting/not knowing…ugh. it would be a huge turnoff

when do waitlisted people find out for sure? Because if it was after May 1, that would mean they would have to decide whether to wait (and miss the deadline for accepting other offers) or to just choose a different school. that wuold suck :(

I think for most schools it’s after May 1, or else it defeats the point right? Since waitlist acceptances are to fill in for the empty spots of people who were accepted but don’t matriculate. Basically I think you’re supposed to pay the May 1 deposit for whatever school, then if you get in from the waitlist, just forfeit the 200 $, or however much… :]

^ Woah ! I never knew that, However if I as waitlisted Yale and ended up getting in, I would forfeit a thousand dollars let alone 200 in order to be a YALIE! Yale is worth the money!!!

It seriously just hit me that this is happening. It’s senior year. We’ve applied to college.

We are on the precipice of our lives, staring into the beautiful, terrifying chasm that is our future.

I just visited the Dartmouth thread, and seeing decisions–decisions for people in my graduating class–was absolutely mortifying! Congrats to all those who have been accepted…and good luck to everyone who is going to spend the next week hand-wringing and pacing. We can make it!

It’s weird because I remember last year I was dreading senior year because all the seniors were saying how hard it was going to be. Now that second semester is almost here I feel like the whole college process wasn’t that hard. I mean past seniors were saying how they wrote like 15 essays, but I honestly only wrote 5 and recycled them for all 13 of my schools. Maybe they were just trying to scare us?!
