2014 SCEA hopefuls?

yup, brown and yale. fun, fun.

i know, the reality of this just hit me. how much we actually dont have a chance of getting in, no matter how much we want to. how many people have applied. and how brutal the competition is.

i seriously hope yale admits more of its EA people, just because they prob have more interest in matriculating. you never know how people will respond to that murder on campus, especially in the rd round

Out of 5,500 Stanford EA applicants, 753 were accepted. This translates to a 13.7% acceptance rate.
Last year, Yale accepted 13.4% via SCEA. Since Brenzel wants to accept relatively the same number of SCEA applicants this year out of a smaller pool, this means a higher acceptance rate for us! Good luck to all!

I know, we can only hope…

that is EXACTLY what I just realized as well. the stanford decisions sent my recent sky-high yale optimism crashing and burning.
:frowning:
I love how I’m acting as if I’ve already been rejected lol. I guess it can’t hurt, though. also I tend to be bipolar with this stuff so for all I know tuesday morning I could be bouncing up and down again in anticipation of a singing bulldog.

^same here. right now I’m in my depressed hopeless phase

Well, guys, historically the Yale SCEA has not been as harsh as the Stanford REA. Yale prefers to defer more rather than straight-up reject them. However, if it were me, I would prefer a definite answer - it might be heartBREAKING, but the wait is heartWRENCHING. Good luck everyone!

that’s true. an extra 3 months of heartwrenching waiting only ending in rejection would be terrible.
btw congrats on getting in stanford REA!

O my gosh…Stanford is brutal…
This is so surreal…it hit a lot closer to home this time since the Yale and Stanford boards have kinda been buddies through this whole thing. There are people there that wanted it so bad and I cannot believe got flat out rejected

I was actually a QuestBridge applicant. Not trying to be self-righteous, but the distinction got a little touchy over on the Stanford board  Thanks thanks thanks! It’s so nice to post and not be asked, HOW DO YOU KNOW ALREADY?

OMG I can’t believe Stanford decisions already came out!!! This is madness, did Stanford say they would release results today like Penn did? I thought they were coming out on the 15th like Yale?

It makes it even harder knowing WE may be those people soon…talking to everyone on here this long almost makes it seem like we’re all getting into yale together. but I just realized, the sad truth of the matter is: at best, probably only around one-fifth of us are actually going to get in. the 2/5 that get rejected may be posting on another board by this time next week :(

man you can tell that the stanford results really depressed me, haha

What’s even more depressing is that 5 of my friends already got into their early decision Ivies/Stanford, so it’ll be super difficult if I get deferred. I’m hoping for the best though. NOT gonna get any work done this week.

^ Yeah it’s weird I mean I felt like the people on CC were the cream of the crop and that more CCers would get in with their amazing stats, but I guess not. If I get out right rejected I don’t even think I could function anymore!

Stanford just decided this afternoon that they would be releasing decisions in a few hours. I think that’s pretty much what happened.

On the other hand, the future is not as bleak as we might think! I think last year, 30% of the Yale CC applicants who applied early were accepted, and a few of the deferred people were accepted RD, so that’s definitely encouraging. I think a good percentage of posters on this thread should be accepted and will be accepted to Yale.

I was kind of thinking a moment ago that this will probably be one of the last times I will be posting and checking this thread. You know, after the last two months I’ve become really attached to all of you guys, which may not be a good thing… Good luck on Tuesday everybody, and no matter what happens, I know for sure that all of you will end up at amazing colleges! Even if i get rejected, I would not regret having applied.

i kind of wish that yale would do the same in regards to releasing early.

but i have an elaborate scheme as to how im going to find out on dec 15th
so early releasing might ruin that.

Hey, good luck to all you Yale people! I hope you guys get in and I hope I’ll be joining you… Now that Stanford’s out of the picture for me, Yale is my #1 choice. Don’t lose hope. :)

Anyone know what happens if we are deferred? Do we get to change our app and send it in before 1/1 or does Yale automatically send it with their RD apps? I noticed some mistakes in my essays after submitting EA so I realllllllly hope we can change our app!!!

I think it just gets to the RD pile automatically, as in we can’t change it. :(

Lol, I’m liking this quote feature!

How are you guys feeling about December 15th?

I was really excited up until last weekend, and then I started to become apathetic about it… I’m not really dreading it or looking forward to it. I’m really just waiting, calmly and peacefully. It’s strange. I literally almost don’t like that my calm will be disrupted after a short weekend. Anyone else feeling this way?

I’ve been on CC for quite a while (don’t even worry about it) and I ermember reading some of the 2013 EA threads for a bunch of colleges last year, and I kept thinking to myself “Woah, I have no idea how everyone is managing to remain calm…” But now, I suppose it all makes sense. Calming down is probably some sort of defense mechanism, especially now that rejection has become more and more apparent throughout CC (see the Stanford EA decisions thread, Jesus…).

I just found out my friend didn’t get into UPenn ED (I’m not sure if he was rejected or deferred) but he wanted it SO badly. Ugh, and now seeing Stanford decisions is a little bit of a downer as well. Oh well, what is, is.

Mann, yale is the last of the ivies to post early decisions. brown is one day earlier…

So far we’ve seen the good [dartmouth], the bad [columbia], and the ugly [stanford…omg…]. let’s hope our decision thread looks NOTHING like stanford’s D:
