2014 SCEA hopefuls?

So I’ve heard Yale has great financial aid, but is this true? I’d hate to get in and not be able to go…
I love Yale <3
add a great financial aid package along with the singing bulldog to my Christmas wishlist :)

^^
I’m pretty sure Yale has a great financial aid package. I went to a Yale information session a couple of months ago, and the speaker was touting the financial program and how Yale isn’t just a place for rich kids. Overall, I believe your family income is a huge part of how much they decide to offer you. If I remember correctly, if your family makes <$60k, theres a high chance you’ll get a full ride. Increased family contributions are expected if you make more than that though.

Why is Yale so slow at mailing out decisions…

I flunked my mechanics mock and I’m back again. My mum freaked when she saw that I stayed up all night in the cold… hehe. I didn’t even have breakfast this morning so for the last 16 hours I’ve been running on 2 mugs of coffee and a mug of milk :)

And darkblademaster - it’s cool that this is such a random thread. Makes the wait a whole lot easier :)

Let’s think about it this way:

-At least we’re in an era now where we can see our decisions online. We know both the date and time it’s coming - alls we gotta do is login and check. It kind of beats running to the mailbox everyday around the time when decisions are released. I mean, what if the post office lost your letter? Lol, that would drive me crazy just not knowing if they were even sent out.

-Thank god we have internet and sites like CC to help us meet prospective Yalies and pass time before D-day comes. Frankly, if it had not been for CC, I would have ABSOLUTELY NO idea how to even start applying to top schools, since I go to a large public school in the middle of nowhere.

So yeah, Yale could definitely have released their decisions earlier. And I’m having a terrible time waiting this out. But it truly beats the college admissions process, heck even 5 years ago when most people still applied on paper.

Tristan, true! But I also hear that it was a lot easier to get back in those days. At least for people from my country it was… A few applied, a few got in… Even 4-5 years ago  hehe.

Let’s all cheer up and be optimistic [ach, I have a MIT interview tomorrow. My first interview so far and I’m prolly gonna screw it up :D]

^so I just tried to check my Eli account on the off chance that the apps are up, and the server is down. Is anyone else having this problem?? Could this mean they are releasing decisions right now???

I couldn’t agree with you more Tristan. Just the anticipation is KILLIN’ me though… A part of me just wants to see the decision now, but another part of me just wants to stay in limbo cause I’m so afraid of seeing a rejection…

^never mind, I just got into the site - I guess it was just not working for a minute :(. I got really excited for a second there

WOW… ^^ hahha, just had a heart attack.

@dan92 - DONT DO THAT TO ME! hahahha jk my nerves are so hyped up right now that my heart practically flew out of my chest at the mere insinuation that results were up

anyways…I’m starting to think that this endless wait is doing some good for me at least. I’m just so fatigued from waiting and waiting that I want any kind of decision be it rejection, deferral, or acceptance. I think that this long wait has made it so that no matter what the result it will be a relieve just to know and maybe that means rejection wont hit me so hard if it comes. Anyone else feel that way?

It has been a long and crazy wait. I’ve had to get in touch with the Yale office a lot of times… One of my teacher reports went missing in the middle, there was a long, drawn-out dilemma with my SAT II scores (still unresolved sigh), plus the whole craziness of pulling together an app in a week against my parents’ wishes (even though yale has always been my first choice) because 1) a friend bet me and I’m a sucker for bets and 2) general business. I will always remember this application like I will remember first love :D

And bubblegnome: I feel you there. Anything would be great around now, although I don’t know if I have the nerves to deal with deferral since I’ve got a ton of stuff to deal with right now at home and school… Oh well, I guess this is one of life’s tests
[this is where I tell myself that I’m just being really bratty and self-obsessed :stuck_out_tongue: Okay, I should go prep for my MIT interview tomorrow…bleh. gosh, what is there to prep for anyway? Dec is such an annoying month. I asked my interviewer for his phone number almost wk ago so that I could contact him incase I got lost on the way but he still hasn’t replied. I am tired of all this!]

Okay what the heck… I can’t log-on to the application status site…!!

^Same here. They better be up again soon…

omgzzz itzz so closeee!!

1 more day!!!

Good luck to everyone…

maybe they’re putting decisions up!!

Life is funny. I just ditched the net and turned on the BBC and they’re showing a feature on Thomas Steitz (Yale!), Ada Yonath and Venkatraman Ramakrishnan for the work that got them the Nobel prize. haha

hmmm interesting. I can’t seem to log on either…in fact, I can’t even get to the log in website.
