2014 SCEA hopefuls?

I have^^^ James Galway version=excellent.

“I mentioned this a few days ago! I actually had the opportunity to perform it with a local prestigious choir along with four soloists from the Curtis Institute of Music. It went so wonderfully. Currently, I’m listening to versions from the group Seraphic Fire and the choruses from the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and Chorus.”

Awesome! I am not a great singer personally, but I love listening to choral music. I have the version by the Dunedin Consort. It’s very good.

On Monday, I am going to Princeton to their Messiah sing-in to take my mind off Yale :).

Nice! Is a sing-in where the audience is the one that does the singing? One of the members of my choir is actually going to something like that. He said the people who host it plant actual singers so the music can stay somewhat together :P.

he’s my fave too, I never get tired of listening to anything by him :]
I do play both although for piano I unfortunately don’t do any competitions or anything like that…all I have is one recital. each year. and that’s it. lol.

I sent in a recording of that for my supplement! that was the only that was badly played that I wish appeared second and not first on the list :stuck_out_tongue: I learned it 3 days before I recorded it because my teacher decided to tell me at the last minute that she thought I should play it -_-

^ really! That’s awesome! (You’re being overly critical of yourself; I’m sure you did well.) Haha, Meditation is absolutely amazing, especially the Itzhak Perlman version. :)

i have that recording… <3 perlman.

Agreed. I actually saw him perform once, live. (Went with my school, so didn’t pay for admission.) He was/is amazing. XD

Anyone like organ music?

Oooh organ music is cool; especially Saint-Saens Symphony No. 3!

And I absolutely love Perlman! I would give anything to see him play live. This is what makes Yale so exciting. The fact that we can talk about this stuff and other people will understand what I’m saying, haha.

actually, perlman is performing at my school next january! I want to see him sooooo badly! :O!

organ music is awesome. can’t say I have a really extensive knowledge of organ repertoire though.

my personal favorite organ piece:

Not really the best version though…

Edit: This Version’s better!

I prefer Rob Thomas.

^ lol Rob Thomas is cool too.

Hey, hey…I feel for you all. I’ve been on CC since freshman year and read all the decisions every year (I’m kind of neurotic, especially about Yale)…everyone seems so qualified here!

Good luck!

And if any juniors are reading this, check out my thread: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/yale-university/825778-yale-2015-hopefuls-2.html
