2014 SCEA hopefuls?

^ that’s a good idea.

haha oops…guilty…

but yeah I’m surprsingly calm considering I might have to actually try in school/finish my apps after tomorrow

^I’m not calm for precisely those reasons

^^ Yeah, haven’t sent in any other apps yet besides Ucs and Yale which I heard isn’t too good for certain schools like Harvard that have Dec 1 priority deadline. Well screw Harvard… YALE is #1#1#1#1#1!!!

So… who applied to yale from here?

lol jk

As a Harry potter nerd I must put my two cents in :stuck_out_tongue: there is actually two movies left since they are dividing the last book into two movies

collegestress, i haven’t even STARTED my portion on my other apps yet :frowning: I still have to find a peer to write my dartmouth peer rec, I asked my boyfriend to do it but he refused due to a conflict of interest (not wanting me to shift halfway across the world next year). and because it’s summer/christmas, everyone is away. argh.

btw dec. 1 deadline means nothing. to all other schools that have that stupid “try to have your apps in by december 15” i say, not a chance. i will have it done by the REAL deadline, thankyou-very-much!

I’ve already completed HYP and Columbia, but I still have at least 6 more to do…

guys- SAME! I’m panicking because I’ve procrastinated my other apps (putting all my hope into yale) and my winter break will be spent writing essays which sucks :(

our last year’s class was the exact OPPOSITE lol

i am really not a fan of columbia right now. i hate their application website. i hate how they do not have common app forms. my teachers all get mighty confused because we don’t have ANY of this paperwork for australian universities.

my reluctance to do my apps is fuelled by my ****ty mood: my sister is going to FRANCE for 5 weeks, i am sick AND i have conjunctivis!
I had plans to go out clubbing tonight but can’t go.

The VCE results came out yesterday (my state’s version of finals exams for Year 12s) and the lowest mark i have heard of amongst my friends and my mum’s friends kids is 99.35, which is in the top 0.65% of the STATE. And mum is saying “As if you are going to do that well. You should have taken French instead of Chinese, and you shouldn’t have done physics, it’s hard”. I have to wait for Jan 4 for my IB marks.

CC makes me feel like I am not alone.

i’m glad i’m done with all my apps…the only one i might do is brown or upenn
and that gets more and more unlikely by the hour

although when i get rejected, i’m going to want something to throw myself into doing

CC did really well at Brown this year! Fingers crossed Yale is the same way.

I pray to God that the schools don’t give a care about having the apps in early!!

How many essays do you guys need for all your apps? I wrote two main ones, and have a couple of 300 worders. Man…Stanford’s app is going to suck so much, I think it takes the longest time to complete.

we had 2 to wash u

^I second the hate on Columbia.

1) application website is horrible.
2) they make you pay before you can start the major part of your application. cheap much?
3) this is less specific to Columbia, but I don’t like how they split their school into two colleges and that it’s hard to switch between them…

I’ve pretty much decided not to even apply to Columbia because of their app, and I guess because it seems like a really impersonal environment. Does anyone here happening to be looking at Rice? I haven’t visited, but I really love that it has the same residential college system as Yale…

I paid the app fee to Columbia already :frowning: because I wanted to get started on the essay portion. Except it’s still not sent in yet…

But now, it seems much more logical to wait for Yale’s results first…

@cadillac: I noticed #2 as well, when I was giving my teachers recommendation forms in September!

I guess I’m applying to Columbia now because I’ve paid that app fee. T__T

I want to join in on the Columbia hate. But only because I actually love Columbia. They have the School of General Studies for nontraditional students (age 24 or over) but because I’ll only be 23 when I would start, I emailed asking if I would still be allowed to apply to the regular Columbia College and they were basically like “yeah you can. but you pretty much won’t be accepted.” But the SoGS doesn’t give financial aid like CC does. So I can’t apply to either. SAD FACE.

I’m currrently in the process of compiling teacher recs/sec school reports/transcripts for columbia. i’m doing all that by paper. it says “please do not fold this form”. all forms are folded. I am annoyed with their apps website, i will not do them any favours nor pay an extra $20 for postage because they want a non-folded form! Each business-size envelope is already costing me $12 to send.

I swear, applying to US unis as an international student is a very costly, inefficient use of time! I had better get in SOMEWHERE!
