@collgefreak If your post is actually a serious, non-sarcastic post, then yes, you have a chance at getting accepted to college and no, your future is not ruined. Adcoms don’t use AP scores in their admissions decisions. AP scores are a nice supplement to your application if they are 4’s or 5’s.
@ellens If you have an iPhone/iPad, the SecureLine app is the easiest way to view scores early. It’s a VPN and it’s easier than dealing with a proxy. Just select a VPN location in a U.S. state which can view scores today.
I just really wanted a 5 on AP chem and I thought the AP world exam was relatively easy…so do you think I should send in my world and chem scores when I apply to college or will they hurt me?
@collgefreak Submitting your AP scores with your application will not hurt your chances at getting an acceptance letter. A 4 is a very respectable score, even for a top 20 school.
@FLStudent97 OK thanks. Also, how would it look to colleges that I received a 5 on the Calc AB exam, even though I got a B+ in the class first semester?
@FLStudent97 it’s not working for me. I set my location to nyc but it’s still showing my scores from last year. Anyone can help me? thanks
First year in highschool and first year taking 2 ap classes. Proud of my scores!
AP Human- 5
AP physics 1- 3
If anyone is anxious to see their ap scores send me a private message and I’ll tell you.
Lang- 5
Only took one test though, so not that fantastic
@collgefreak My apologizes. If taken into account at all, it will be a testament to the courses’ rigour at your school. Although such a thing probably won’t matter.
I also got a 4 on AP Chemistry. I was having a bad day and I knew it when I finished the test. Would it be completely irrational to retake for a 5 considering I will be studying similar material for Chemistry Olympiad anyways?
If anyone wants to check ap scores now, shoot me a pm!
How do you guys study, since many of you receive 4’s and 5’s. I always end up getting a 3 on every AP exam and I studied consistently for them this year, especially APUSH (I thought I got a 5). I emailed my teacher for biology and she seemed like I may have been only 1 of the 4 students who passed out of the entire school. I always use AP Crash Course except for biology where I used the Princeton Review. Any help would be phenomenal because I am going to be a senior next year and I would like to a get a 5 before I graduate or at least a 4. Thank you
@ellens CollegeBoard allowed NY-based IP addresses to view scores yesterday. Look on the CollegeBoard website for U.S. states that can view scores today. If SecureLine has one of those states available, select that state on SecureLine’s VPN list and view your scores.
I’ll check for you guys!

@collgefreak That B+ in Calculus BC will most likely show the adcoms that you had a very rigorous teacher. Was the class difficult at your school? Since you were able to get a 5, that shows that adcoms that you essentially fully understood the course material.
@Gingersnap2016 I have a pet peeve for people who overuse the word “literally” in their sentences, but I am literally in the same boat as you. I got straight 3s on Chem, Lang + Comp, Seminar, and Calc AB this year…so I’m bummed, especially about Calc AB and Lang because in all honesty, I thought I got at least 4s on those two. I also got 3s on both bio and world last year, which is kind of disappointing. My teachers are great, but I can’t grasp why I can’t get anything higher than a 3. And obviously, these scores aren’t crucial to get accepted into a decent college or university, but I am just disappointed at my performances on these tests consistently, and I’d like to improve as well for my senior year. So any help from the pros who got 4s and 5s on their exams would be appreciated on this end too!
@Gingersnap2016 It depends. For lit, I just studied a bunch of books we did during the year, focusing on plot, characters, and symbols. Most of the time, my teachers prepared me very well for the AP tests during the year. If you have a good teacher you don’t need to work that hard haha
But I find that using prep books like crash course and PR isn’t very useful for me; I usually just go to the study sessions that some of my teachers have, or if those are unavailable, cram with my friends over skype. I also Googled “cram packets” online for the various tests I was taking, like WHAP and lit for charts delineating the major plot points/themes/symbols. Hope that helps and good luck in the future.
@Gingersnap2016 Aside from the MC sections, the FRQ sections on many AP exams are more than just memorization. You have to get a feel for what the AP readers are looking for when they score the FRQ’s at the AP readings. Next year, try looking at the scoring guidelines and sample responses, which are available on the CollegeBoard website, to see what the AP readers deem to be a 9/9 as opposed to what is a 4/9. You have to be a good writer in addition to understanding the material to get a 4 or 5 on many AP exams.
