**2015 AP Score Results Thread**

I thought I was going to get a 5 in apush 100% but I got a 3 what the heck??

@airfire1928 I heard from someone that if they misplace your free response booklet, they’ll put a message on your score report saying “free response score predicted from multiple choice” or something similar. Can anyone confirm if this is true?

@synack It’s true

@synack Aw, mines doesn’t say that. I guess I just did really bad on the MC. :frowning:

@ohiovalley16 I took both APUSH(4) and AP World(5). For world, the content amount is huge, and extremely difficult to cover, and especially with that, it’s important to understand both events and patterns for both parts of the exam, and this is something that some teachers may fail to fully achieve. Also, for world, apparently the entire state of florida, whether they are in the class or not, has to take the exam. So that skews that distribution a lot. Personally, I thought APUSH was much harder than world because for world, we had the hardest teacher who truly taught us the exam. My test average in that class was a 63%, and on top of that, he literally went point by point for each essay and told us what to write to get a 9 on each one. For US, our teacher used videos to teach, and the tests resembled the multiple choice and short answer, however, we had to rush the content at the end of the year, and she didn’t explain the essays until a week before the exam. So I probably screwed up one or more of the long essays a bit to get a 4, but I’m happy.

That’s interesting @jpchem , my D did just the opposite. 4 on World and 5 on APUSH.

@jpchem That’s weird. How does that even work?

Anyone else get their Art History scores?

Art History: 4

I saw AP_Trevor’s post on twitter and the percentage of 5s were 10% (about 2 percent less than the last couple years ~12%) and I immediately thought I might not get a 5; I can’t say that I’m disappointed though, because I had nightmares about getting a 3. 4+ is always my goal for any AP test!

@divinery Hey there. I got a 5 on Art History, and I was literally so shocked!! I was reasonably predicting my scores to be 3-4, and I had nightmares too (albeit in the dream I got a 6 which was impossible XD)

This year’s questions were pretty strange though. I did pretty well on Part A of MC (32/35), but I bombed Part B. A lot of images in Part B of MC were unfamiliar to many people (I discussed some of them with other test takers). So I just eliminated choices I didn’t like (XD) and guessed, so my 5 might be a matter of luck lolol.

FRQ’s were also strange. No questions asked for artists’ names, not a very common phenomenon. I figured I messed up the “male figures” long essay, but I was confident about the architecture long essay (I used Villa Rotunda & Forbidden City----Yes I’m a Chinese hahahaha)

Just self-crammed for the exam starting from April 1st, and took the real exam a month later. Didn’t think I could get a 5 with just one month of self-studying… I recited Barron’s over and over again, but didn’t read Gardner’s, which was probably the reason why I didn’t know some of the MC images.

I heard that starting from next year AP Art History will have a specific 250 artworks list. That sounds a little bit easier. If you really crave for that “5”, maybe the 2016 exam is a perfect opportunity! A 4 itself is also a respectable score (to my knowledge, the difference between 4 and 5 is nothing more than approximately 8% of the composite score, maybe 16 points or so).

BTW, do you know how to look for score break-up? Like how many MC I got right, how many points did I receive for each essay, etc.?

Hey! Thanks for your reply. First, congrats!! I was hoping for a 5, but I’ll gladly settle for a 4
But yeah, how did you get your score break-up? And yes Part B was really unfamiliar a lot of my classmates and I were talking about how that Part B was aslkfjasdlfjad ahaha. Woooow I’m so jealous of your 5 XD
I started studying from mid-April using the REI book! I didn’t take any practice tests that came with the book… LOL oops

And yes I heard about the art history change! But in my opinion it’s going to be even HARDER because you actually have to study sooo much because the questions are going to be uber specitifc. Also, I heard that some of the 250 artworks are very obsure and unknown. Yikes!

And yeah @AmericanGothic I just tried my best on Part B and tried to use process of elimination and do my best, lol and use logic to the best I could. Ohhhh my goodness though, there was like an egyptian fresco on Part A and the thing is that stupid picture was up on the wall of my classroom the whole year but NOONE noticed it and my teacher actually decided not to teach us that artwork after long contemplation because she thought it wouldn’t be on the AP test because it appeared before. AHHHHH and I know i got 2-3 questions wrong on that fresco… I just hope that wasn’t the difference between a 4 and a 5. I’m also just disappointed because Art History is one of my favorite subjects and I studied pretty hard for it and I guess my best equaled a 4? I’m just worried about other AP exams. I don’t know how I’m going to get a 4+ on them when they’re not really my fav subject and when I’m going to be a lot busier next year… :frowning:

@divinery Yeah I got to know my Part A break-up 32/35 from the CB website. They posted the Part A multiple choice questions and answers shortly after the exam date, and I compared the answers to my response… turned out to be 32/35. I totally have no idea about the break-ups of other sections… So I’m also wondering how to get those.

IMO 2-3 MC questions can’t be the difference between a 4 and a 5. The 115 MC questions just account for 40% of the total score, so missing 2-3 is just losing 1 point of the composite score (total 200 points).

Don’t worry about other AP exams. Sometimes a person’s favorite subject isn’t the one that he or she is best at. Literature is my favorite subject and I love reading fictions, but I do poorly on literature tests… Just don’t fret about that.

And it’s interesting to know your story about the Egyptian fresco! Yeah sometimes I regret not having reviewed something when I see it on the exam—I become so sad and feel like I should be condemned for not carefully reviewing everything in my textbook… If I did review it I could have got it right!

Can you ask your teacher about score break-ups? I figured teachers may have some information about those… Is your teacher an AP Grader?

Oh oh you mean that Part A break up! Yeah I estimated it when CB posted it! I think I remember counting around a 30 or 31! I think my essays were too weak for a 5 ahahah. Maybe i didn’t use enough vocab and stuff :frowning:
My teachers isn’t an AP Grader, sadly xD
I feel so ashamed though because I was one of her most participating students during her AP review sessions and stuff and I did study a lot more than other people… my fault for not doing practice tests and what not :stuck_out_tongue:
Just disappointed because she knew I talked to her and asked her for help toward the end of the year :frowning:

@AmericanGothic It’s also because I’m only going to be taking 2 APs next year – APES (enviro) and WHAP (world hist) with 3 other honors classes and a school newspaper class. Anyway, the point is I’ll only have 3 scores on my transcript when I apply to colleges and I just hoped to get all 5s on the measly 3 i have lol.
ahhhhh college. I mean, because of just the way our school system is, it’s hard to take APs as an underclassmen and even in junior year most competitive people take 2-3. The only APs people really take as underclassman are AP art history or AP music theory. (Although there’s this exceptional science guy who already took 5 AP tests got all 5s (bio, chem, comp sci, physics) and he’s going into junior year which is like unheard of at my school even though it’s competitive lol.

@divinery So you’re saying that your AP Exam scores are gonna be on your transcript? That’s unheard of… I thought that only AP Class grades are gonna show up on the transcript. As long as you have A’s and B’s in the 3 AP classes, you’ll be fine. I don’t think admission offices will care very much about your actual Exam score, and AP scores themselves are not a major factor in determining whether you’ll be accepted by a college or not.

Well, I wouldn’t call five 5’s exceptional, especially when the five AP tests are all science subjects. Some AP are just more difficult than others. I personally think liberal art subjects are more difficult, things like Euro history or World history. Some of my schoolmates and alumni took APs and get ten or so 5’s, all in science subjects. That isn’t as impressive as is someone who get three 5’s in liberal arts: EH, USH, WH. And perhaps the effort required to make a 4 on Art History is much more than that required to make a 5 in physics. Maybe admission officers will also take that into consideration.

So you have both APAH and WH, I think you’re fine. Sometimes 4’s and 5’s don’t have that much difference.

@sosie98 If your free response really is missing, they will let you know. If it was scored already though, there is nothing you can do about it because they won’t rescore the free response.

Oh, I just saw that the question was already answered…

@jpchem Entire state of Florida taking the test??? I know for a fact that statement is false… perhaps I misunderstood but are you saying that if someone doesn’t take AP, they have to take the AP exam? Because no…

@AmericanGothic

The second part of your post makes zero sense.

When has 5s in any category not been exceptional? Are there classes where it is easier for some people to get a five in? Yes. But saying that getting 5s in all science classes is not “exceptional” is ridiculous. What if a person attended a STEM focused school? Are his/her AP achievements in science classes viewed down upon by an AO? I hope not.

“I personally think liberal art subjects are more difficult”. So that means that 5s in liberal arts are valued more than 5s in science classes for everyone?

“Maybe admission officers will take that into consideration”. What? So it’d look better for an intended science major to have 5s in all humanities than 5s in science classes because liberal art subjects are more difficult?

Please tell me that this is a joke.

I didn’t have to take this exam and I live in Florida…

Did anyone here take AP Latin? I haven’t seen anyone else post his or her score for that exam or discuss it at all…
