@Nerdboy98 Looking back at your earlier post in this thread about your stats, you seem like a very strong applicant EC wise, so I wouldn’t be surprised if you just happened to be chosen for the interview earlier than some others because they felt that you had a good chance of being aceepted. Do you think this is the case?
Anyways, my guess is that they first choose some people for the first round of interviews, and if they don’t get enough good applicants from that round of interviews they will choose more from the pool of applicants (there is probably a “waiting list” of sorts for the interview?). Since nerdboy mentioned that he was only given 3 dates for an interview, I doubt that they will be able to interview every good applicant out of ~500 people this week.
@Nerdboy98 @Woandering @hydropane Just out of curiosity, what are the first letters of your guys’s last names? It’s possible that they’re doing interviews based on alphabetical order of names, and maybe they have a list of people they want to interview but are only starting with A-G or something like that this week. In that case, some of you may get interviewed in later weeks.
Sorry if I wasn’t clear about my “~500” statement; that was just a wild guess at the number of applicants based on what I’ve been told by others.
I don’t know the exact number, but I did hear from people who attended last year (who were told about some of this year’s statistics apparently) that the number was much higher than last year at around 350+. Last year there were about 400 applicants total, so I’m guessing the early application pool is very close to that number already, since the Launch facebook page also said “record-breaking” amount.
Either way, consider getting an interview a very big achievement already. Based on FigLeaves’s post earlier, the people chosen for interview are the “finalists”, so you are already very close to acceptance. I would imagine that you just need to reinforce what you said in your application and make sure you prove to them that everything you said earlier is true.
yeah I’m also waiting for my interview… If there’s 500 applicants fighting for maybe 22 spots (assuming they take roughly half from early and half from regular), then that’s not looking good tbh…
@Orangebananapeel Nah…if you got the interview, I’m sure you’re no longer in a pool of 500…I doubt they take the time to interview every single applicant. Probably more like 50-60 are selected for the interview per round, and then a few of those are eliminated. Also, last year there were 80 spots total. So if you got the interview, my guess is chances are looking pretty good for you. Good luck!
Would you mind sharing some info about what topics you focused on in your application (in terms of ECs)? I’m currently applying regular and am trying to get some idea of what my fellow applicants are like.

Also where did you hear that the acceptance rate is low? As far as I know they haven’t released any rejections or acceptances yet, all we know is that you and Orange got an interview.
I know there are more applicants this year, but I think at most that will lower the acceptance rate to about 10%. Last year it was 20%.
@potatoz Last year Launch was an outside program this year it became affiliated with MIT so I wouldnt be surprised to see only10 percent of the applicants make it. In terms of ECs I think I gave off the impression I had a passion around one field as well as the experience around business and had demonstrated effective leadership skillls.
