2016 - 2017 USC Transfer

So for the longest time my “Restrictions page” on Oasis said 1/23/16, which is I believe the day I submitted my application. Today the “Restrictions page” changed at 10:47 a.m. Everything else seems to be the same. I wonder if I am one of the first to be rejected?

@TheTank00 do you mind sharing your stats? Thanks

@TheTank00 maybe you should wait until Tuesday or Wednesday to see a full update. I remember someone saying that the next day they saw their STARS report filled out

I applied to dornsife as International Relations-Global Business and have not heard anything yet, is anyone else in the same boat? Transferring from an LA area CC with a 4.0. Really hoping to get in since it’s my top choice, but at this point I’m getting a little worried to say the least.

@TheTank00 Definitely don’t say that yet. Like others have said, STARS usually changes the next day (for me, it was at like 2AM following my restrictions change last year). Even if nothing changes, it could just mean an SGR

what do we put for the password for OASIS?

Same boat. Nothing back yet. Are you a junior applicant?

Major: Physics (B.S degree)
GPA: ~3.9
Transferring from: CSU
Entering grade: Junior Transfer
Total Credits: Over 60.
Internship: None
Letters of Recommendation: One from Physics professor
Essay: Good Essay

Hi everyone!
Has anyone heard from Keck? (Undergraduate)

Hey guys, is there a USC Transfer Admits 2016 Facebook page?

I’ve been following this thread but never bothered to make an account. I am in the same boat as a lot of you guys and I have not received a single clue about admission and its killing me!

Did anyone else apply for Dornsife environmental studies? Here are my stats:
GPA: 3.57 (got 2 B- freshman first semester but the rest are As and 2 more B+) been on Deans List for 3 semesters
Transferring from USF
Have a lot of extracurriculars such as Sprout Up (which is at NYU too) and tutoring for my uni, etc
and I did not apply for financial aid.

I also applied to NYU and neither of them have said anything… should I just expect the worse at this point D:

@tama123 I’m also still waiting on NYU!

@isan2018 after your commitment deposit gets processed your portal updates and there is a link to the Facebook group at the bottom. No one has been added yet though.

Yea I’m a junior applicant

where do we get the password for oasis?

@zettasyntax where do we find the password for oasis. also if you get an sgr, does that usually mean you’ll get accepted?

@Sagacity It’s MMDDYY or MMDDYYYY if you didn’t find out yet. If you can’t login with either combo of your birthday, OASIS just doesn’t work for you. Generally yes. I’ve seen people get C’s in major prep/important courses and still get accepted, but you can certainly still get rejected; just try to keep your grades consistent with your past grades and you should be fine.

@Sagacity not necessarily. I’ve gotten a sgr last week and about to send in my grades this week. A sgr could mean an acceptance or rejection. I think the purpose of a sgr is to provide adequate information before the admissions make a decision for you. I’m currently taking lots of prereq major classes this semester. they are probably going to focus more on those classes to see if I’m ready for my chosen major. they also look at your grades for your core classes to determine how well you’ll do in a rigorous academic environment. calculus is an important core class for my major so they’re going to put a lot of emphasis on that class. getting a B in that calculus class might hurt me and potential reject me depending on how well I did in my other core classes.

@zettasyntax really? C’s in major prep classes? I find that really hard to believe haha! maybe those people had exceptional ec or background. I don’t really have anything special to present to USC. barely any work, volunteer or ec. I’ve gotten a 4.0gpa this spring semester and taking all my major core classes. I hope that makes up for my lack of ec

@pomeranian4rich Yeah, well it’s only really one guy I’m thinking of lol, but he was really cool, so I remember him  He got a C in calc and, as you mentioned, it’s probably the most important course for certain majors and you would assume he would have been rejected for sure, but he wasn’t. He did have some pretty okay ECs (I believe he was a counselor for a summer camp) and had work experience. He also had gone to college before, but didn’t have the best experience in terms of academics, so there was definitely more to his story. I had very weak ECs in comparison and that’s probably why a B in my case was a deal breaker; my GPA was all I had :stuck_out_tongue:

Also, it really does help when people post in the year’s stats thread  If you look at past years, I think just about every single (or like 9/10) SGR people mention getting accepted, so I’m really basing my perception on SGRs on that. In 2014, I think I was literally the only person to update their post from SGR to rejection, but stuff like that might really help future students if anybody is listening, lol
