2016 - 2017 USC Transfer

@BIMguy finished my last semester at SCC. Will be attending USC next semester!

Hey guys! I saw many people are waiting for the response from Marshall!! This wait is killing me!!! I check my mail box every day with hope to find the big envelope there. By the way, about me…Majoring in Accounting, GPA is 3.78 GPA for spring is 4.0.

@ProfessorX5 Sac City College? Congratulations!! What were your stats?

@masechka1988 Did you receive a SGR?

@BIMguy No I didn’t. Is it a bad sign? Did you?

@masechka1988 It is not a bad sign or a good sign, from what I have been hearing it is usually for students who are taking classes in spring that are required to transfer. As you can tell, people have already started to get accepted, USC sends them out randomly so you are still solid. Your stats are pretty impressive so I wouldn’t be too worried. Just ask your USC counselor if they have reviewed your application, show some interest and ask whether you should send in your spring grades. Won’t hurt to try and show them that you care!

And yes I did receive a SGR. I am a Marshall applicant with a 3.70 at the time of the application and 3.78 (As in all 6 courses during the spring semester) after my spring grades are finalized.

@BIMguy do you mean the territory counselor? (or how they call them?) Or the one at my community college?

@masechka1988 I guess you can say that haha. Below is the link, put in your school name and you will know who it is. You can send them an email or call.

to anyone who asked about my stats: I don’t think they really matter in my case, my counselor told me they need my spring grades mainly to see my math grade since I took my first math class last semester. I was also taking 2 GE’s (philosophy and biology 101) and 1 Annenberg prereq (French 3). 4 classes that would play a big role in the decision.

@BIMguy Oh thank you so much! I definitely will email.

@thepinksun That’s usually a reason why people get SGR’d (their first math or required English is in-progress). That’s why I got my SGR in the 2014 cycle (I was taking my first math course). Applicants who get accepted without the need for an SGR while having these courses in progress are pretty lucky, I’d say :stuck_out_tongue:

@Cindyciclta I get what you mean. I took some classes at a community college very close to the USC campus called Los Angeles Trade Tech and around that area is where things get a bit iffy. My aunt is a police officer and she used to work around USC for awhile (she caught students using fake IDs) and she jokingly told me “just make sure you never leave campus” when I was admitted :stuck_out_tongue: Honestly though, I don’t think the area is all that bad. I don’t come from the best area in the first place, so maybe I’m more comfortable with the environment than people that are coming out of state and such. Generally though, I do agree that it’s never a good idea to just walk around in the late evening in dark alleys/streets without a buddy; that’s just asking for trouble.

I got in with about the same stats last year! @BIMguy

I didn’t officially receive SGR but under requested document, request for transcript showed up.

I’m viterbi civil engineering applicant with 35 units completed and 16 in progress.

My GPA without spring 2016 (with 35 units) is 3.84.

Unfortunately, spring isn’t going so well and it’s looking like 3.5 semester, which will bring my GPA down to 3.71 ish. Am I in bad situation?

Just want to add that my mail lady thinks I’m insane because I’m stalking the mailbox. Waiting for Annenberg Journalism (could I have picked a harder major?) SGR. I’ve completed half my GR’s with a 4.0 the other half are in progress now midterm grades have me at a 4.0. High school and college circa 2006 grades are trash. Any hope???

It’s actually not the end of the world if I don’t get in, the transfer process for Annenberg is a long shot to begin with and I’d just reapply next year to Annenberg and SCA. Looking to create short films/videos about emerging nations so either school works really. Good luck with waiting guys its the hardest part!

Oh and Oasis has my account as updated 5/17 what does this mean???
