2016 - 2017 USC Transfer

Has anyone heard from SCA? And also, a couple of weeks ago, I got an email from a cinematic arts admissions officer. She just asked what I was currently enrolled in this spring semester, asked for an updated transcript, and that I could even just screenshot it and send it to her. The thing is, I took this semester off because I needed to start working full time to pay some bills. I just told her that I took the semester off to pursue full time videography and photography work, as I had completed most, if not all, general education requirements. Is her email a good sign? Is my break from school going to be a problem even though I finished all GE’s? I got a similar question from chapman university, and they seemed cool with it because I got accepted to dodge a week later.

@brookecandy Same here! I’m freaking out because other school’s deadline is approaching closely. I’m not sure what is the right way to do it. I submitted the admission deposit but the required documents are still pending. Deadline is 6/1. Any suggestion will be appreciated!

@zettasyntax From your experience, do you think most of the rest of the decisions will come out this week? Or the following week, in the couple days before June 1st?

Has anyone who was accepted, was accepted after receiving an SGR?

If I need to change my housing status to “living on campus” who should I contact? I need them to reevaluate my financial aid because of this as well. Thanks

It scares me that housing for transfer students is not guaranteed (even though I haven’t got my decision yet! Lmao) X(

It seems like a lot of people are waiting for Marshall which I feel like is a good sign since I’m sure we all didn’t get rejected

@chaseguy750 have I talked to you before on the UCI thread?!

And did you get a SGR?

I’m waiting on Marshall also

@BIMguy I have been told USC housing should not be impacted

@BIMguy no I didn’t apply UCI. I haven’t received anything from USC at all not sure if it’s a good or bad sign.

got into Marshall 3 days ago

@chaseguy750 I just checked last year thread. A lot of people were accepted to Marshall even in the beginning of July, it’s just May 22, there is still a ton of time to receive a golden package :slight_smile:

@nittinten Congratulations!! Do you mind sharing your stats?

9 more days left in May…

@jadiebadie SCA applicant here, nice to see some other SCA hopefuls! And no- I’ve heard zilch back. I’m trying to stay positive, though, since decisions for SCA on last years thread seem to have started around this time…so I think our answers will come soon. Anyway, the fact that a counselor e-mailed you could be a good sign depending on whether what you told them is what they wanted to hear. If they are asking for more info I’m assuming that you have a promising application. Good luck!! I really hope you hear good news soon

Hi guys! I’m applying for the Fall semester 2017 as a Communications major at USC. Anyone here been accepted into Annenberg? If so I’d love to hear your stats! Also, I saw that that Annenberg doesn’t recommend for transfer students to take Communications courses prior to transferring, so I’d like to know some of the classes you took.

@cctousc I definitely think the majority of you should hear back by Friday :slight_smile: May 27th seems like an oddly common day that I remember reading in years past, lol :stuck_out_tongue: I just wonder if USC is going to notify people that didn’t get SGRs after June 1st because that happened to me last year. It would really suck if they make you guys wait longer than they say they are, but I agree this this week should be very active and hopefully we see more acceptances than SGRs because more waiting would suck =\

@thepinksun

Major: Annenberg - Communication (accepted)
GPA: 3.89 after winter 2016
Finished all the GE categories (I, II, III, V, Diversity); IV is required at USC
I also took Statistics which is recommended for Comm majors
Part-time working as a kids learning center for 2 years and multiple internships in marketing/pr/media
Accepted: UCLA, Cal, UCSD, UCSB, UCD

@ashurikko
I recommend you complete all the GE categories (i believe they made changes for applicants who started cc in 2015) and take Statistics. I didn’t take any foreign language at cc

I pretty much followed these guidelines
goodluck!

@gc51025 Thanks! And I finished all of my required GE courses and now I have a lot of open slots left for classes. Would you recommend for me to take additional GE courses?
