2016 - 2017 USC Transfer

also, is there a separate forum for people who were accepted? Im trying to figure out housing n such

I am currently still waiting on a decision from Thorton. But I feel like I am going to be rejected because i haven’t heard anything and it’s already May 23rd :(.
I have a 3.7 and 66units coming from a community college in California.

My letter did come today btw. I live in Florida.

@masechka1988 I received an SGR in April, currently waiting for one of my professors to put in my grade into the transcript so I can send it to USC. It is lame because all my other professors put in the grades last Friday! -_-

@BIMguy Rakin Hall told me he heard its not impacted and he’s hopeful I get it.

@PolinaMadison I received my reply from NYU last Monday, so don’t worry! They are still receiving people’s applications!

@Theworrisomegirl I’ve basically lost hope with NYU :frowning: I heard it was rolling admissions with transfer? .

@PolinaMadison Yeah, it was rolling admission. Most people heard the week before I got my acceptance, but I didn’t follow NYU’s thread on here closely as I did with USC. Mostly it was because I was really nervous about not getting accepted into USC. ): So It was really nerving wrecking when everyone got theirs, and I waited until a week later to get mine. I am not sure about whether acceptances or rejections were released today, but people had speculated they released acceptances/rejections every Monday and Tuesday of every week. I received my reply really early on a Monday. Then 5 days later, I got my package in the mail.

Before I received my acceptance, my financial aid years popped up, which never appeared before during the last few months. Many people said if you get a financial aid update (with 2016 and 2017 appearing) or transfer credit update, then most likely NYU has made a favorable decision.

(I actually forgot to submit my high school transcript and college transcript late April and they didn’t receive until Early May, and I got my reply on May 16.)

@ucsborusc I heard transferring to different majors when you’re already in usc is easy. I don’t know about communication majors, but I heard it’s a really hard major to get into so I’m not sure if they allow internal transfers into that major. If communication is your passion, maybe staying at ucsb for your communication major and going to usc for your master is a better option? International relation is more about political science, economic and interaction among diff. countries, way different from communication i think.

Just got accepted!!! Im a sophomore transfer and I applied for CS. Weird because they gave me an SGR but todayI got my letter in the mail and my portal was updated!

@jlev96 congrats! what are your stats? and did you have a request to submit a sgr in the “check your application status” regardless of your acceptance? That is really weird, getting a sgr and an acceptance at the same time? hmmm.

I didn’t do anything. for a couple weeks my portal was just like everyone else’s who had an sgr. All of a sudden things changed and now I’m in! I’m not going to fight it haha.

Im at cal poly slo (quarter system). first two quarters I got a 4.0

Anyone looking into living at Cardinal Gardens or Century appartments?

@jlev96 when did you received the sgr?

early may

@transfercool How many units do you have? Semester or quarter? When I get my decision, I’ll make sure to tag you in the comment. We’re the only RED majors on the thread, I hope we both get in!!

@BIMguy You’re pretty much spot on with this applicant I liked 2014  He had almost exactly similar stats. He had an overall 3.8GPA, but messed up a little his spring semester (a C in business calc and all A’s otherwise). He was admitted, so I think you have a very solid chance of getting accepted

@MoralObligation Hey there. You can try contact your counselor, but I had a very negative response when I contacted mine. He basically said “Nope. No way. Not going to happen, so let’s not talk about that anymore.” He had been relatively nice up to that point, but that really changed my opinion of him. I wasn’t a fan of being a spring admit either and tried just about everything possible - I emailed my advisor, deans, and they basically gave me no answers. I even sent a letter to the dean of Dornsife and the prez of USC, but only heard back from the dean. He just told me to contact my advisor (he was the nicest of all, but said he doesn’t have that power). Basically, you’re stuck with being a spring admit unless space opens up. And even then, I’m told freshmen spring admits have far better chances of being moved up. As for housing, I think I was a bit unlucky, perhaps. They wanted to put me in a temporary place with 5 other students until a spot in permanent housing opened up. I didn’t really like the sound of that, so I chose to commute for the semester.

@ucsborusc I’m not sure how true this is, but I recall an international applicant from last year speaking with somebody from Annenberg and she was told that she could easily switch into the college. I’m not exactly positive what the requirements were, but it didn’t sound like a difficult process. I wish I could remember her name so you could ask her and see if she was indeed successful.

@gc51025 I’m taking 13 credits over the summer and so far I have 26 and I have A’s in all of my classes. I will be finished with all of my GE’s by Fall semester. I was confused because I e-mailed some advisors over at USC and it wasn’t really clear as to what additional classes to take, but now I’m just taking courses that’s going to help me in my major like social sciences and stats. Thanks for the help!

Anyone here been accepted from an out-of-state CC? What was the process of choosing the right courses like for you? My current school isn’t well known in the west coast so it’s been tough…

@IBProspect123 I applied to those two with cardinals being my 1st choice.
