2016 - 2017 USC Transfer

I know it takes a lot to post a rejection on a public website, but if anyone has been rejected, please don’t be ashamed or afraid to post on this thread. My hope is that this is a judgement free zone. Getting accepted into an uni. like USC is no easy task, so we completely understand what it feels like to be rejected, especially if you have applied before. It would be a big help to everyone involved on this thread to really see what USC is looking for this year.

@transferstudent2016xoxo we still have 3 more business days until June 1st. I hope to hear today or tomorrow. I don’t want to get mail from USC on May 31 because a lot of rejections will be sent on that day

@masechka1988 you can’t be too sure on that, I feel like rejections will come starting after June 1 st. People were still getting accepted up to mid June

I was a Marshall applicant last year with a 3.92 GPA and got rejected. GPA isn’t everything.

I’m getting nervous now :(.

I think sophmore applicants get their response after all the juniors get their response…

@fighton7 can you explain your situation from last year? did you get a sgr? when did you hear back? how were your spring grades? how many prereq did you finish? it would be nice if you give us more info. about yourself so we all can see why usc would reject a high gpa applicant like you. thanks!

I was a junior applicant. No sgr. All pre-reqs for Marshall completed. Still needed to complete a few USC GEs. I heard back at the end of may with a reject. Not really sure why I was rejected to be honest. I thought everything looked solid.

I got into Berkeley and UCLA last year though

ACCEPTED!
Sophomore Annenberg applicant (comm)
Spring 2017

Stats: 1640 SAT
3.4 HS GPA

California Community College
4.0 GPA Fall Semester 2015
4.0 GPA Spring Semester 2016 (One W)
Hook: URM (Hispanic) , 1st Gen college

I applied with 15 units and 16 in progress, however I ended up dropping College Algebra, which left me with 28 units. This meant that I had to send my pretty pathetic SAT score and they began to take into consideration my HS record somewhat. You need 30 or more so that your HS stats become irrelevant.

I got in as a Spring 2017 sophomore transfer, which I’m actually not bothered with as I got into my major of choice , my school of choice, and I didn’t get the dreaded SGR (lol).

Any future prospective Trojans reading this, do not worry if you underperformed in high school like I did. Maintain a strong GPA in college and write phenomenal essays. From the counselors I have talked to, they care MUCH more about your GPA than your ECs, so if you are like me and have little “academic” interests outside of the classroom, do not stress, there is a lot of hope!

I’m a soph applicant, got my acceptance last weekend in the mail. @Cindyciclta

@nittinten what major are u? I’m applying for viterbi, they give out acceptances very late :frowning:

@Cindyciclta marshall!

Congrats! @nittinten I was gonna apply for Marshall…I should have! Maybe I’d get a response by them already >:(

I think a rejection is all but certain at this point… But I’m optimistic! Still hopeful.

@ShockedForester congrats on getting in!!! did you finish all the GE’s, pre-reqs and divinity?

@ShockedForester congrats! Did you receive an SGR?

Yeah I am Marshall pre-accounting and at this point I’m pretty sure I’m getting rejected

@thepinksun
@John6311

Thanks guys!

Oh wow I completely forgot to write about the GEs I had completed in my excitement lol. I completed all of the GEs, except the ones that are mandatory to complete at USC.

And no I never received an SGR, just a straight up admission.

For everyone else, don’t give up hope, I got accepted this late and I thought I was going to get denied too.

Fight on!!!

What was the date on the letter @ShockedForester

@nittinten congrats! do you mind telling us your stats? and prereq you’ve completed for Marshall?
