@Skc313 sorry, I actually didn’t send my transcript electronically. I had my school send the transcript through mail.
Honestly, just being really curious here: does the message of your financial aid in review have any value in whether you are likely to be accepted or not?
I followed the USC 2015 thread closely, in the last hour, and I got to around page 274. And apparently, there are two separate messages sent to people when people review their financial status
- "Your financial aid application is currently in review.
Please note: We will notify you if additional documents are required throughout the review process.
Financial Aid Awards are usually available 3 - 5 business days after all required documents have been received."
–I got the 1st one indicating that I will get an award announced 3-5 days, and apparently some people were accepted from the threat also received this message–
“We have received all required documents. Your financial aid application is currently in review.
Please note: We will notify you if additional documents are required throughout the review process.”
I don’t know if this is valid or not, much like how having access to Oasis apparently does not mean acceptance or rejection.
Please speak up if you got accepted! Did you get the first message before receiving your financial aid package, and if you got rejected did you also get the first message or the second message?
I’m really curious and mildly bored out of my mind waiting for a reply from USC. ):
Moreover, in the beginning of my semester, I was requested a lot of financial aid documents to be verified–like sending in my parent’s income taxes and my own and being asked various and intricate questions concerning my parent’s finances. I don’t know if these are signs or not, but USC went through a lot of trouble to keep in touch with me over financial aid stuff in like late February/Mid-Late March. I understand some people got requested more financial aid information then got accepted immediately following a few days, so I wonder if USC’s interest in contacting and requesting an applicant’s financial aid information means anything or not!
Please be happy to share if you experienced a request for financial aid information before being accepted? I would understand that if USC were really not interested in accepting students who they would reject then it would be pointless to message and contact applicants concerning their financial aid documents!
@TheWorrisomeGirl I haven’t been accepted, but hope to be, I did however get contacted to send additional financial information like my parents W-2 forms, and some other information from there plus information from me specifically. This occurred in early March
To whoever thinks submitting electronically leads to a faster decision - no. My son did them that way, through the mail and electronically from his school (you do this, but we had to call admissions to find out where to have school email it) and he hasn’t heard anything - NOR has the button to submit them disappeared. And his SGR was May 4.
@TheWorrisomeGirl mine was like the first message since I applied for financial aid, but I still haven’t heard from USC
Anybody who haven’t heard from USC at all? No SGR, no decision, nothing…
@masechka1988 I haven’t received anything from them I’m applying to be a sophomore transfer. But I’m trying to stay optimistic!
@ohwiseone me too, but I almost lost my hope. What is your major and GPA?
Haven’t heard anything. Assuming a rejection at this point in all honesty. Hoping I’m wrong though.
@AIS562 there is still a possibility that we can receive a SGR by June 1st
Yeah, very true! I’m at a quarter-system school so we’ll see
@masechka1988 don’t lose hope yet! And my major is bio and my GPA isn’t that good haha! During first sem I got a 3.1, but for second sem I got a 3.8
@ohwiseone I try my best. I am Marshall applicant 3.78.
Hey everyone,
I was accepted to SCA for Film and Television Production for the Spring of 2017! Postmarked 5/25 and received on 5/27. I’ve been following this thread closely and I must confess that I didn’t join earlier because I wasn’t expecting much. I saw a few people in this thread got accepted earlier in the week and both of them were from SoCal. I’m in the Bay Area, so I assumed I would receive something in the mail by Saturday if I was to be accepted. I’ll go ahead and add some information from my application process so others who are still waiting can compare it with what they have.
I did not receive a SGR nor have I had any contact from USC regarding my application. I wasn’t sure if this was a good or a bad sign because I have over 60 units completed and aced the “Courses Required for Admission”. So if your situation is similar and you did not receive a SGR, do not feel discouraged.
My portal updated at midnight Saturday but the financial aid tab still shows the “3-5 business days” message. It originally showed the first message and it changed to this one at the start of May the same time people in this thread noticed the change. I think there is a good chance it changed automatically for everyone, so this does not seem to be an indication of admission. However, it looked like students that were being accepted from this thread were receiving requests for additional information regarding financial aid–I never received any of those. As far as I know, I completed every component of my financial aid application over a month ago.
I’ve also never had access to OASIS and as of typing this I still cannot login on that website. I don’t know if I would rule it out as a good sign, but it does sound like people have been rejected in previous years even with OASIS access.
I’ll try my best to answer any other questions. I assume my portfolio was the deciding factor because my GPA isn’t the greatest at ~3.49. I think there is a good chance that is why I was rejected from UCLA. I’m not even sure if they looked at my portfolio over there or if I was rejected before my application got to that phase. I knew that acceptance to either USC or UCLA would be a longshot, but I figured that I had as good of a chance as anyone else. Whatever happened, I am very grateful to be offered Spring Admission and hopefully I will be attending USC a year from now! I am curious if anyone else has been offered Spring Admission at SCA or knows of anyone who has experienced that.
@CinemaTransfer Thanks for the info.
3 more days, guys! Hang in there!
@CinemaTransfer thanks for sharing!
So, far SCA has accepted a handful of film production majors. Has any other SCA major been accepted?
Hey
Saw some earlier questions about Annenberg. I applied there as well and haven’t heard anything except they did email me a couple days ago regarding some questions regarding my application. I believe Annenberg releases their decisions the latest and we should be hearing soon any day. Don’t loose hope.
If there are any Aanenberg applicants feel free to show your stats and ask questions. We are all in this together
