I called my admissions counselor about a week ago asking for a general timeline since I sent my spring grades May 18th. She left me a message saying they were sending decisions the end of last week (didn’t happen) and the middle of this week. I’m an Annenberg applicant btw. Hopefully she didn’t make that up!
@tashanicole I’m an Annenberg applicant too and got my SGR notification on May 18th as well. As of now I’m not expecting anything before mid-July. Hate this wait.

@journalism89 Yup, I was a spring admit, so that was my first semester experience. I’m a computational linguistics major. It’s a pretty new major according to my advisor. There’s only six people in the major and the first one just graduated this spring. The GE class was LING 210, so it’s not one I’d advise people to take with the particular instructor/TA combo I had. I’m always happy to answer questions. On another note, I’m sure I’ve mentioned this, but if anybody is taking any LING courses (so many double as GEs), you might have me as a classmate 
My current fall schedule is nothing but linguistics courses.
@zettasyntax just curious what is your major about? haha is it like a linguistic major with scientific theory or computer science involved?
My counselor just emailed me back saying I will hear back by mid July. This wait game is killing me, I just want to know if I am fall or spring admit so I can decide to take this full time job offer or not. @zettasyntax should I let my counselor know that I have a full time job offer pending and I need to know if I am being accepted or not? What do you think?

@mr.transfer You could definitely call again and mention this. Sure, you’re likely to get a rude/polite/generic response that you’ve already heard “by mid-July”, but in some cases I think if definitely helps. I’m certain I recall that somebody mentioned how they had to pay a deposit for another school and suddenly heard back awhile ago in this thread. I also had luck in that I heard of my decision 3 days after calling in to complain about the deadline having already passed. Results may very, but maybe they do sometimes speed things up just so people like me can stop bugging them
@pomeranian4rich It is primarily a linguistics degree, but with LING courses such as “human language technology” and “human language as computation” that aren’t necessarily required for a regular linguistics degree. The computer science core curriculum is around 12 courses, I believe, and computational linguistics requires 6 of those courses. I’d say that it’s basically a linguistics degree with some computer science peppered in, yup 
@aalfulaij Not sure, but she did say they were being sent either the end of last week or middle of this week and I don’t think she would just make that up. She easily could have said mid-july and she didn’t so I’m hoping for the best.
@tashanicole Did your admissions counselor specify if that was just for the applications she oversees or for Annenberg applicants?
