2016 - 2017 USC Transfer

@zettasyntax I hope you did well on that nasty CS 104 final. At least you are done!!

@journalism89 I think I have like the biggest messenger bag in the world, so I stand out. I still have my name tag/badge thing from my orientation and I was considering crashing one of them for the food, lol. They had really good food during orientation.

@GamerGal27 Thanks  I felt a little better knowing that nobody seemed to finish early. I got a B- on the midterm, so I’m really just hoping/praying for an overall C+ or C. It was killer, just as you said.

Omg. I finally got the request for verification under the financial aid. I think I got accepted for viterbi. FINALLY. Oh gosh.

@Cindyciclta That’s insane, you haven’t heard back yet.

@topchoiceschool yeah i know! they totally forgot about me :frowning: i think my application was just overlooked by accident… bad luck I guess :frowning:

better late than never!!! congrats @Cindyciclta !!!

Hi, planning to put application in as Linguistics major.
Last year, I’ve put as Math major but declined because I failed my math courses on my last semester.
So I changed my major to linguistics and retaking the courses that I failed.
It’s not my major courses nor general education courses now.
Is it going to matter?

call your counselor, they’ll give you better advice than any of us lol :)]

Hey guys, I got accepted for spring 2017 for my second major. is it possible to switch majors even when they rejected you for your first major choice?

It’s very easy to switch within the same college, e.g., Dornsife. It’s a little bit trickier to switch between colleges, Dornsife to Viterbi (my son did it). It’s extremely difficult to switch to a college requiring an audition or portfolio (Dornsife to Cinematic Arts).

@GamerGal27 could you tell me what your son did to switch to dornslife into viterbi? Cuz I got accepted as a math major but I want to do comp sci/business under viterbi

Yikes, the median grade on the 104 final was a 61%. I did quite a bit worse than that. Really need to keep my fingers crossed for that C+ now :-SS

@Cindyciclta I’m trying to switch into that major as well. Keep me updated!

Selected as a Norman Topping Scholar!

@ProfessorX5 Wow, that was fast. Congrats. They told me they weren’t going to notify people until the 25th, so I guess that means they did it early and that I didn’t get it. Ah well. I know my interview went bad :stuck_out_tongue:

@zettasyntax thank you! Yeah I was waiting to find out the 25th as well. They caught me by surprise. Don’t give up hope yet! Good luck!

@ProfessorX5 Did they let you know by phone or email? I honestly know my interview was terrible, so I’m not expecting too much despite me namedropping a current scholar that all of my interviewers seemed to like, haha :stuck_out_tongue:

@Cindyciclta My son took the three pre-req courses listed in this grid http://viterbi.usc.edu/students/undergrad/advisement/changing-majors-to-engineering/course-recommendations.htm (not sure this link will work here). He got an A, A- and B- in the three courses and was reviewed by admissions (that B- was in linear algebra where he bombed the final worth 40%). It’s a competitive review so there is no guarantee your request will be granted. You can sign up for the pre reqs at orientation- you are allowed four courses in another USC college you are not currently in.

I don’t see CSBA in the grid. I suggest you contact Viterbi admissions and ask for details.

@GamerGal27 did he take those classes in USC? Or another school?
I know the computer science course at my school doesn’t transfer over to USC. Thank you for answering my questions.

At USC. He was accepted as Dornsife Undecided and transferred to Viterbi CS (Games) his second semester.
