2016 - 2017 USC Transfer

@tinarose If you don’t mind me asking, did you use the USC tuition estimator online to estimate how much you’d have to pay to go to usc? if so, is the estimator accurate? I think that would answer one of our questions about financial aid x]

should I be worried if I haven’t gotten SGR?

@Cindyciclta The financial aid package is somewhat in the range provided using the USC tuition calculator! I have a different situation of divorced parent. They took into account of both parent’s income regardless of divorce and even if the non custodial parent will not contribute anything to education. The UCs only looked at my custodial parent’s income, not both.

USC is somewhat generous, considering i’m not paying for full tuition. It’s an investment

Hey guys, does anyone know whether USC sends decisions out in batches or just randomly? If we haven’t gotten anything yet should we expect to wait for a bit to hear?

@tinarose Based on your financial aid package, can you give some color to my situation? If my net price calculator states I can expect anywhere between $52,000-55,000 in aid, based off of your own situation, how much can you expect me to really get? Is there a large discrepancy?

@nnatho hey congrats! I am a marshall applicant as well. Do you mind sharing what grades you got in Business Calc and English? Thanks!

@IBProspect123 That’s such a generous amount!! Like I mentioned, my financial aid situation is a little different from everyone else(which puts me in a huge disadvantage).

Keep in mind that ESTIMATED COST OF ATTENDANCE is Based on 2014-2015 costs on the Net Price Calculator! The Estimated Cost of Attendance for me is $57,777 (commute from home) . There’s a $7,000 difference in Gift Aid when compared to my actual financial aid package to the USC Financial Aid Net Price Calculator. The larger discrepancy might be due to the non custodial parent issue.

Hey @zettasyntax any idea why the decisions are coming out at different dates, even though the applicants have the same majors and are not SGR (assuming they aren’t rejected). Do different admission counselors work by different speeds?

@ElevatedThinking I would have to go with yes. Although this year is very different what with all the TTP stuff that happened :stuck_out_tongue: I applied for undecided/Dornsife as my first choice major in 2014 and my counselor was Rakin Hall. I got my very specialized SGR in mid-April. Then as I mentioned with my new counselor Clay, I heard nothing about my application until May when he asked for my GED (which I had sent to Rakin the year before and I guess Clay needed his own copy). Both of my majors were in Dornsife this time (and traditionally, they seem to hear back earlier than other schools), so in some cases, yeah, it might depend on your counselor.

Accepted to Dornsife! Incoming sophomore (on ttp). No access to oasis. Gpa- 3.65

@dtrojan112 how many units have you taken ?

@collegegirlUSC 17 first semester and 18 in progress now

Hopefully decisions will really start coming out around May…
my anxiety about USC has really subsided since my acceptance to BU

@dtrojan112 where are you transferring from?

@John6311 from a private school in SoCal on the Semester system.

Restrictions changed on 4/26/16
STARS report was prepared the next day 4/27/16
Received acceptance package in the mail this morning 4/29/16
No update on my you.usc portal yet

Moorpark College / Los Angeles Pierce College (both CCC)
IGETC completed & Finished all but 1 GE category with the last one in progress right now
I had finished all of my GE’s for usc at pierce college and did most of my major pre reqs at Moorpark College due to pierce college being over saturated with students and it being very difficult to get classes.
Major -Health Promotion and Disease Prevention
Pre Reqs- All pre reqs completed besides Phyiscs A&B
Overall GPA ~ 3.92
ECs - multiple jobs, volunteer at a hospital and pet clinic and other awards etc from high school and community college

Goodluck everyone on acceptances and i am also still waiting on my financial aid package because they had asked for additional documents. I am also confirming that you do have 2 weeks after your acceptance letter comes in the mail to commit to USC.

@zettasyntax Since you’ve been through the transfer process a couple times, have you ever heard anything about transfer admits getting rescinded if they are just shy of meeting a 3.5 in their spring quarter? I’ve been nervous about this because my quarter ends in 5 weeks and I have a slight chance of ending with a 3.3 or 3.4 GPA

Just got admitted to UC Berkeley! I’ve been accepted to UCLA, UCSD, UCI and UCSB, but my dream school is USC (Marshall). Hopefully, I can say I rejected UCLA and UCB for the Trojan Family!

Do you guys know about Norman Topping Scholarship? I got an email about this. In addition, they need more about my financial information. This can be a good sign?

@pugluver97 In my two years of being on here, I’ve never seen anything about anybody getting rescinded. Of course, it may be the case that nobody would bother to post it, but I’ve never read about it. To me, honestly I think USC would only bother to rescind you if you really messed up (got a D or F) or you withheld/lied information about your grades. Other than that, I really see anything 3.0 and above as being more than fine.
