@Massmomm and @tx5athome I’m with you! August 5th! I’m seriously in denial. And how is there still so much to do? I’m also obsessively checking the weather and it seems like it’s going to be either really hot or scattered showers, neither of which are good because we are planning an outdoor ceremony. Grr.
I like the sofft shoes the best. They look comfy but not clunky.
For all of you with weddings this weekend…stop looking at the weather. It’s the one thing you have absolutely no control over. It rained all day of DDs wedding…but the day was bright and glorious anyway.
Enjoy these last few days…really…most of the BIG work is done…so get ready to just have fun and enjoy.
It all goes by so quickly.
Like both shoes, but EF gets my vote. The Sofft is cute but a bit run of the mill kind, generic sandal looking. You could probably get more mileage out of the EF in the long run.
D1 was going to have her reception in a tent. I really didn’t want it because of weather. I don’t think I could have handled an outdoor ceremony in the NE. I will keep my fingers crossed for all of you with outdoor weddings.
I concur with @thumper1 - if you’re planning an outdoor ceremony just be sure you’re ok with the indoor alternative. The day will be wonderful, regardless. The stress comes in making the call. At my S’s wedding (11 months ago this week!), the call didn’t have to be made until 2 hours before the ceremony because it was a public venue and set-up didn’t happen until it was closed to the public. That worked in our favor because it had been rainy and gloomy all day, but around 3:00pm the sun started peeking out. Set-up started at 4:30pm and by 6, when the wedding party headed down the aisle, the sun was shining. If the call had to be made earlier, I’m sure we would have been indoors.
Thinking of all who have weddings this weekend, I know the sun will be shining, even if raindrops are falling!
Our wedding planner made the call on using the indoor option. But really…it was raining so anyone could, have done so! It was nice that this detail was left to her.
Both DS’s had outdoor weddings. When I asked DS#2 if he had an indoor backup option (there was one if needed), he just laughed and said “it doesn’t rain in Nor Cal” (sadly, with all the fires, they could really use rain!)
Wishing all of you the best that have weddings this weekend. For those getting married August 4th that is my 28th wedding anniversary so I think it is a great day for a wedding!
Holding the memories! It does go by quickly! DD/SIL wanted a baby right away, and being 24 and 28, everything worked right away…they were on Skype with us and they were just so delighted! Grand-dau is perfect and delightful.
Wonderful to help the young couples get through a terrific wedding - no matter small/large/high end or on a budget…and I never saw H smiling so much since our own wedding 39 years ago.
To this weekend’s wedding families: enjoy the ceremonies and celebrations.
It does go by fast and the one thing I wish I had been more strategic about was to deliberately make a few minutes every hour or so to “take it all in”. Just a brief solo stroll around part of the venue…I would have wound up chatting along the way and that would have been fine, too.
@SOSConcern - you need to move off this thread and on to the grandparents thread. Congratulations.
Oh no, do I have to leave too I love hearing about all the new weddings and helping (?) where I can! My S (33) and DIL (36) married last Labor Day and also decided not to wait (for obvious reasons). They, too, were lucky enough to encounter no problems and we’re expecting our grandson to arrive in November while I wait for our other two to let me legitimately stay in this thread. PS - already on the grandparents thread!
@runnersmom - big congratulations to you too. Very exciting. I think it may be few years for me yet. D1 is 29 and wants to wait a bit, but they are thinking about it.
I’m also done with wedding planning and event for now…and please please…no grandchildren for a bit!
I love hearing about others.
Best of luck to the weddings happening this weekend!!
Good luck to those with weddings this weekend! I hope the weather gods smile on you, but as others have pointed out, it doesn’t really matter in the end.
My D really wants an outdoor ceremony, and we found a venue that has a covered courtyard that we were assured could be used rain or shine. Well apparently it rained so hard a few weeks ago that the roof leaked and a bride had to move her ceremony indoors at the last minute. Best laid plans…
So far it looks like the weather gods are smiling on us. The forecast is for a sunny day, and the temperature should be about 73 degrees for the 5 pm wedding. I THINK we have everything under control. We are not in charge of that much. Rehearsal is at 3pm tomorrow. DS will stay with us in our hotel room Friday night which will be kind of fun.
@tx5athome and @rebeccar
Enjoy this special weekend!
I have DD2 who hopefully will be married one day. I just wanted to let the MOB/MOG know that the feelings just also get better down the road too!
Hope everyone’s weddings this weekend are fab, and looking forward to hearing the glowing stories.
Happy wedding weekend to @rebeccar and @tx5athome. Hope I haven’t missed anyone. May you enjoy it all.
Happy wedding weekends! Enjoy and take a moment to soak it all in.
