Letter received in west TN today. Nothing yet from school.
@XCjunior2016 I think you go onto the NMSC login site (https://osa.nationalmerit.org) and click “Change College Choice.”
D received her letter in the mail today in PA, though still no word or certificate from her HS. 8 degrees and -15 wind chill at the moment, which probably explains why UCF is her favorite NMF school (okay, she really liked everything about UCF, the weather is a nice bonus though).
Received my letter today. Happy to have advanced
Letter at home in Austin area today. @albert69 I don’t care how dinky it is - I’m framing that puppy! I think with some large layered mats I can make it look grand.
btw are we going to have a thread about where the class of 2016 NMF kids actually matriculate to? I’d be really interested in seeing that.
Still nothing in SoCal today, nothing from the school (although there was no school yesterday and won’t be on Monday) and nothing in our mail as of today. So, that means it will be Tuesday before he have another chance!
@3scoutsmom Doesn’t this thread for 2020 acceptances (with final choices/decision in red) work for that purpose?
Letter came today in Central Jersey and D was informed in school yesterday. We had some wacky weather with no school and delays over the past week plus the superintendent’s office is across the county from her school so if the letter went there first I understand why it took so long for her to be informed. However, weather can’t be the case for everyone else whose school has not informed them yet. Complacency and bureaucracy seem to be good candidates. It’s quite an achievement for all of you and should be noted in a timely fashion with more than just a “by the way”. Congratulations to all of you! I’m sure you will go far and have great success.
Received letter today in LA! School has not received anything yet.
My D got letter today in 6 degree frigid Minn. She’s very happily visiting ASU tomorrow. Temps in the 80s!!!
@4kids2graduate how can you tell which kids on that list are NMF ?
Got letter in Saturday mail in Texas (small town, near Austin) that DS has advanced to finalist. Principal hasn’t said anything yet. DS was home sick when it came, and I was with his sister’s out doing errands, so we got an ice cream cake and balloons. Not sure if the school will do much of anything so we wanted to do something.
@3scoutsmom I will add to that list if you find one or start one. DS will likely go to Baylor for Computer Science. They give full tuition scholarships to NM Finalists.
@TexasMomE that would be great! My D is all in for OU full tuition plus.
I’d also like to hear from folks that made NMF that decided to go to schools that don’t off big $$ for NMF
D applied ED to Johns Hopkins and was accepted. No money for NMF.
My DD is headed to Rice ED. No merit money offered yet. Hoping for the NMF scholarship, but $2500 won’t help much.
Came home from a 16 hour dance competition (ouch!) to the confirmation letter yesterday in Austin. DD went straight to her room, cleaned off the clown makeup and went to bed so she saw the letter this morning. We won’t hear from 5 of her schools until March 27th so she really has no idea what to do about selecting her first choice school on the NMC website. Guess its time to figure that out. I think the only school that it might help her at is USC if she gets in and she says its not really one of her favs. But still nice recognition.
Do we have to inform colleges (those that give out scholarships to NMFs) that D is a NMF or not? She has applied to a few of those on her list.
Yes, they will only learn she is NMF if she named them as her #1 pick and I’m not sure when they are notified of that.
