2016 Senior CHANCE ME FOR ANY UC/CSU

Hello,

I am a senior and I’ve done “okay” my high school career, I go to a really advanced magnet high school for students interested in medicine/health sciences, however I will most likely be a Political Science/Law and Legal studies and/or a Business Admin major. My stats are as follows:

GPA = Unweighted: 3.025, Weighted: 3.125, Cal Grant: 3.0

SAT: 1490 with writing, SAT: 1030 without writing

ACT: 21

Top 45% of my class.

I’ve volunteered about 250 hours of community service, I started my own Multicultural and Volunteer club, Student Government, Yearbook, Leadership, Black Student Union, Hispanic Students Club and have been a certified trainer for coaching underclassmen in Diversity Club, and Tobacco Use and Prevention Education trainer.

I’m interested in CSULB, CSUF, UC Riverside, and Cal Poly Pomona. Do I have a shot, or should I start filling out JC apps?

GPA and SAT/ACT are low for all the schools listed. If you are determined to go to a 4 year, going the CC route will give you better options.

UCR: Reach
CSULB/CSUF: Low Reach
CPP: High Match

You would have better chances at some of the less impacted/less competitive CSU’s such as CSULA, CSUDH, CSUCI, CSUSM if you want to go straight to a 4 year university.

Thank you so much! I have completed Algebra II but, I also want to know if taking Pre Calculus would make my chances any higher for the schools listed?

Taking Pre-Calc will help you later in college with your math classes, but unless the Pre-Calc is an Honors level class which would add to your HS rigor, it will not make you more competitive, since you grade will not be available until after admission decisions are made.

Thank you so much, you have been so helpful. I appreciate your input!
