I just wanted to mention two mitigating factors that I worried somewhat about for Marshall:
I got a W in Calculus 2. I never retook it. I had a 4 on AP Calc BC though and sent that in.
I did not take full-time credit in earnest until this past fall. Before that, except for the summer before, my Fall and Spring semesters were both under 12 credits. I took only one class my first Fall. I did sort of explain that in my essay and provided context.
@xtx237 SAT won’t be evaluated if you have 30+ transferable credits by the end of your spring semester, and always shoot for a 4.0 but people have been accepted with a 3.6ish
@phoenix23 did you complete accounting 1&2, and Econ macro & micro? I also have a 4.0 and a good amount of GEs (7 I think), but I’m a first year student and decided to hopefully save the business classes for USC
@phoenix23 one more question, did you receive that mid-year grade request on your portal on Friday? It disappeared after a while, but almost all of us received it
@phoenix23 congratz!!! I’m starting to feel that out of state students really do have priority over California residents lmaooooooo. and im really surprised that an incoming sophomore heard back earlier than incoming juniors!!! XD
You must have really written a beautiful essay because they did ignored the calculus 2 you dropped with a W! (but they did accept your ap score of 4+ higher for credit so that helped you)
@penntousc so true lmaooooo maybe that’s why out of states applicants are hearing back first. Hopefully I’ll get into ucla and it’ll be my backup (hope not)
@pomeranian4rich yeah that’d be a nice backup to have, I would love to go to a UC if not for USC but they’re insanely expensive for OOS students and offer no aid… also though, and I think I said this before, some OOS applicants are assigned to counselors that aren’t responsible for a region in California that produces a large volume of transfer applications, and so those counselors are able to move through their application reviews more efficiently, and the decisions are easier to make
