@arteest1 I’d be interested But I haven’t been accepted yet either haha
@ashurikko hey I’m a journalism major and Annenberg applicant. We haven’t heard back yet because Annenberg is one of the last schools to release decisions, but I was at Annenberg last week to talk to a professor and IT IS AMAZING.
@pantafootball2 I honestly think both schools are great. the low tuition cost at ucla makes wanna go there but my 1st choice is still usc haha
This is kinda off topic lol but is anyone in a fraternity at their current school? If so, do you know the process to transfer chapters?
I was originally really interested in joining a frat at USC but it’s expensive as hell and I don’t think it’s worth additional loans lol
Has anyone heard back from Sara Aguirre as their counselor?
Have the majority of people gotten SGRs already? I feel like I’m the only one who hasn’t gotten anything lol
Does not having ANY extra-curricular activities at all actually hurt your application and candidacy? I know that extra-curricular activities aren’t weighed in as heavily in the admissions process, but can having “0” involvement in extra-curricular activities actually hurt you, even a tad?
@SportsNerd24 Omg it sucks we’ll have to wait even longer That’s awesome though! I’ve heard so many great things about Annenberg, if I get into the school it would seriously be a dream come true
Has anyone received a request for spring grades?? and am I the only one who refreshes their portal every five minutes
@larue0712 I’ve heard absolutely nothing and I’ve been on pins and needles since people started getting decisions back…and I thought I had a pretty strong app too? My GPA is fine and I have like, 2 extracurriculars (ok I know it’s not a lot LOL), my LOR were really nice, and my essay was maybe like an 8/10. But then again Dornsife hasn’t really heard back iirc and maybe they’re just slow ;;;;;
@cooljon525 I’m not in a frat but I’m in a sorority and I contacted the president of my sorority’s chapter at USC and she told me that as long as I am not in debt with my sorority at my current school, I’m pretty much in if I decide to go to USC if I’m accepted. She said that I get to move into the house immediately as well because I’ll be an upperclassmen (junior). It will be nice because I won’t have to worry about transfer housing cause I heard it’s pretty rough trying to find somewhere
You guys are lucky if you got to read your letter of recommendations before they were sent out lol. I had three letters of recommendation, one from a law professor, accounting professor, and my academic adviser at my CSU. I’m assuming they were all good. The first person I asked for a recommendation (business professor) refused to write one for me after I kindly asked—even though he explicitly told me I had the highest overall/final grade in class and participated everyday. That experience motivated me even more to transfer out because I was fed up with my university
I just checked the document management system on portal, it says I need to submit a required Transcript from my CC which I have already done months ago. The transcript from that CC shows up under received documents so USC has received it… Is this an error? Either way I will call tomorrow morning to clear it up
@jae2017 I’m not sure about their aid for independent students, but I think they are pretty generous (to most). My university grant is something like 40K for the school year and other grants like the Pell Grant basically just left me to deal with housing costs. This made USC about as cheap as attending UCLA (which I thought was pretty crazy; there was only a couple thousand difference).
do you guys know how long it takes them to get back to you with a decisions after submiting spring grades?
@dvalenc7 I had the same experience. submitted my SGR last year and it was still there. I called them and they told me it’s a bug in the system and as long as the transcript is under “received document” I am fine.
@Skepta I heard that they don’t review sgr until they receive a sgr from everyone so that it’s fair for those whose spring semester ends in June and not May. But I’ve seen some sgr applicants hearing back a few weeks after submitting their transcript in May, so idk. I submitted mine last May and had to wait until Mid-July only to receive a rejection lmao…
@zettasyntax thank you, that’s great to hear! I don’t think I qualify for Pell, but I already pay for my own apartment, so if USC would cover the tuition, it would be the same for me as attending UCLA.
CAL Berkeley today? If I get in Berkeley CS I think it’s safe to say I’ll get in to SC. Hoping for the best!
