2017 - 2018 USC Transfer

@penntousc Thanks! I’m an incoming junior.

@HeirOfLincoln 4.0 at an out-of-state CC; completed all recommended physics/math coursework (including the full calculus sequence plus DiffEq and Linear Algebra). I applied in late January.

you guys who got decisions yesterday and today:
has your portal and financial aid been updated online yet?
and can you already commit?

@Amaryllis85 congratz!!! Please feel free to post your stats here: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/university-southern-california/1978775-usc-fall-2017-transfer-students-stats-decisions-only-p1.html?new=1

@cc2LAuniversity my financial aid has been updated today, but… my status has not lol so I cannot submit my enrollment :frowning:

@arteest1 Communication. How about you?

@daaniielle Annenberg isn’t supposed to hear back for a couple more weeks. I’m applied to Comm too, the wait is gonna be rough…

how big of a deal is having a B in a major pre-req as opposed to an A? is that looked down upon?

@ashurikko I feel your pain; majority of Dornsife hasn’t heard back and I’m in PAIN

@delzzz321 A or B is fine for a pre-req, but a C is a red flag.

I agree. You should always try to get A’s and B’s,especially in your pre-reqs. Just try to avoid C’s as much as possible pre-req or not. Also USC hates W’s.

Does anyone know how the sgr letter look like when it comes in the mail? Does it come in a regular white envelope?

I don’t think you get SGR in the mail.

Oh really? I did not know that lol Thank you ! (:

@jenanniee SGR comes through their online portal, that’s why it’s necessary to check it occasionally

@itslife123 Pretty sure the W’s depends. There’s been many times when people got in with 1-2 W’s, especially in the previous years

Hello all!

I’ve been lurking for a really long time. I’m so nervous lmao. I still haven’t gotten anything back yet… I want to think I’m a pretty strong applicant. I have nothing to do for the next four weeks of school so I will be communicating more

Here’s some basic stats stuff about me:

Age: 18
Ethnicity: Taiwanese if this even matters
School: Fullerton College (CCC)
GPA: 3.91 (My only B was when I took a class freshmen year in high school and missed the midterm cuz of an emergency :frowning: )
Units: 50 AP units/ 51 semester units by end of spring (think I’m a junior applicant)
Classes taken: mostly USC GEs and business classes (Intro to Business, Financial/ Managerial Accounting, Micro/Macro Econ, Business Law, Real Estate Principles)
Major: Business Administration
Acceptances: UCI-Business Admin, UCSD-Econ (Thurgood Marshall)
Rejections: UCLA- bus econ
Letters of rec: Accounting professor, Mathematics research professor (knew him pretty well, extremely nice guy)
ECs: Volunteer for organization that helps third world countries, Internship for two politicians (Assemblywoman and U.S. Representative), FC Math Club Treasurer, i forgot what else i put on but there’s more lol

I don’t really want to go to UCI after visiting. Really hoping I get accepted and financial aid can pull through with grants and scholarships.

It’s great getting to know you all. Hope to see you at USC next semester :)))))))

@pomeranian4rich I was told by my recent ex (1st year Marshall student) that university owned housing is already full. USC Village filled up really quickly lol I know some people who were selling their spots for several thousand

@nayu917 I wasn’t expecting to get housing at USC village anyway hahaha. I’ll be content with any housing I can find hehe.

You have pretty good stats. have you finished all or most usc GEs requirement? Having them finished will make you a competitive applicant. You have really similar stats as me. I was accepted just yesterday(received my package through mail) so be on the outlook for the mail in the next few weeks(or days)!

@jenanniee @itslife123 an SGR does come in the mail. This is what it says on my portal:

“We have requested your spring term grades. We mailed you specific instructions on how to submit your grades for expedited processing. We hope to receive the grades before June 30. We expect you will be notified of our final decision by mid-July.”

@delzzz321 @jenanniee @itslife123 lol you just submit your transcript electronically, must be official though so your school has to send it. There should be a pdf of the letter that is mailed to you. That’s what I had last year so I didn’t need to wait for my mail.

@pomeranian4rich Congrats!!1!!1!

I think I’ll have all USC GEs done except the ones I need to take on campus. If I get a SGR I’m gonna be pretty disappointed ugh. I don’t want to SIR to UCI and then find out I got in a month later
