2017 - 2018 USC Transfer

@kamtea Congratulations! Was it through the mail or through the portal?

@usc2563 Mail!

@kamtea Congrats! What major?

I’ve kinda given up on the idea of straight up acceptances. I’m just waiting for my SGR now. Low expectations.

Accepted as a sophomore for the fall 2017 semester.

College: Dornsife
Major: Physics/Computer Science

GPA: 4.00 throughout.
Units: Roughly 60-80 quarter units.
GEs: Completed with the exception of 2.
Extracurriculars: Listed my high school ECs.
LoR: 1 letter. Strong and well-written.
ACT: 35/36 (taken in HS)

Best of luck to you all : )

@kamtea Congrats! :slight_smile:

@usc2563 are you an incoming junior or sophomore?

@AtoTransfer Thanks! I’m not comfortable sharing my major and stats, but I was accepted to Dornsife :slight_smile: @millaportman Thank you!

@AtoTransfer I think I would still be an incoming sophomore? I’m a first semester sophomore right now, I had done over 30 credits before I applied.

Accepted 5/02, Dornsife, TTP applicant (incoming sophomore, currently a freshman) from a 4 year university in-state, I thought my essays were mediocre at best, but I had excellent letters of rec, decent EC’s
Even though I was on TTP and my GPA was over the TTP requirement, I still can’t believe I was accepted. Now I’m hoping my financial aid package is decent. Has anyone here who’s been accepted gotten their package yet? Was it better or worse than the finaid calculator or what you expected?

Good luck to everyone, the wait is agonizing but in the end it’s worth the wait! Fight on! :)>-

Hey guys, thought I’d finally post on the thread after stalking it for weeks. Marshall applicant that just received an SGR today. (I have Calc 1 in progress this semester) Some Stats:

Transferring from: CUNY in NYC
Entering as: Junior
3.736 GPA
Pre-Reqs Completed- All but Calculus 1 and Accounting 2 (in progress)
GE’S Completed- All except ones that have to be done in residency

I actually wanted to just give a word of advice to everyone confused about the Calc 1 requirement for Marshall (or any other major pre-req) based on what I just went through.

@buskev @cassidylynnn @pomeranian4rich @usc4ever @Zerzavy

Basically a couple of days ago I looked at USC’s articulation website and found that the equivalent to Calculus 1 at their school was Calculus 2 at my school. It scared the shit out of me because I had no intention of taking Calc 2 and was banking on transferring after this semester because I have no more classes to take at my school. So I did a whole bunch of research and found out that their Calc 1 class and my Calc 1 class are basically the same.I sent an email to my counselor with all of the syllabi attached and he sent it over to the articulation office and they told me that because of the information i gave them I should be clear. Within the hour I got the SGR I was anxiously waiting for (hoping I wasn’t just outright rejected.)So my advice is if you are transferring from a school within California or a school that sends a lot of transfers to USC then the articulation history should be accurate. (Obviously the less developed the articulation agreement, the less students have transferred from your school to USC) However, if you’re transferring from a school that rarely sends students to USC or just don’t trust what you see on the articulation website don’t be afraid to ask questions and challenge it. It worked in my favor and it can work in yours. Just thought I would share that experience!

@sshrey4 Dude my stats are pretty much the same as yours! Except I’m a biology major and only missing one GE ^^/ I hope this bodes well for me UGH

Hi, I’m a transfer student, on a TTP program and transferring to USC as a sophomore. I applied to Marshall and I just got the SGR today! I thought I would have been accepted because I’m apart of the program. I had a 3.7 GPA my fall semester. Should be a 3.83 for Spring semester

@Zerzavy Just one class.
Prerequisites for admission to the Marshall School of Business:
Writing 150 (Analytical Writing); MATH 118 (Fundamental Principles of the Calculus); MATH 125 (Calculus I)
may be substituted for MATH 118.

I only took Math 118.

@AtoTransfer Just received an email about the condition of admission from my counselor. I think it’s more specific towards me though.

“This condition means that we will need you to submit final transcripts once you complete this semester. Although you do not need to complete a specific GPA, we also don’t recommend that you do poorly in courses either. In other words, continue doing well and we look forward to having your on campus soon.”

I talked to other transfer admits and they told me they need to satisfy a 3.5gpa or above for spring semester. So I think I am the only exception and don’t need to satisfy the gpa requirement because I’ve gotten a 4.0 gpa straight for the past 3 semesters.

@pomeranian4rich Thanks for the update!
Hopefully if I get admitted they allow one “C” in a non pre-req course. It’s weird that USC isn’t specific on what they exactly want from you in your last semester. All UC’s were specific on the grades you needed to receive.

@AtoTransfer Just updated my post. read again

@sshrey4 Congrats from a fellow physics major!

@pomeranian4rich I’ve had a 4.0 as well the last 3 semesters, so hopefully if admitted I fall under the same circumstances LOL

I may be wrong but people who get a Spring Grade Request don’t hear back until Mid-July. The USC website says we WILL get a response before June 1st for admission decision or a SGR.
