@SmokedHam not everyone with an SGR hears back mid-July. SGRed applicants can hear back at any point in time between the day that their spring grades are received, up until mid-July. Those who don’t hear until mid-July either have their spring quarters ending in mid-late June, or have a flaw in their application that is causing the admissions committee to hold off on making a decision.
@penntousc you’re right. I was just saying because many people ask questions that can be already found on the website. Thank you for adding more info. Everyone here seems really anxious.
I have a question about transcripts. Does anyone’s school use the Parchment system to send transcripts? If so, would an electronic copy be okay to send in my final grades to USC?
@SmokedHam yeah I get it, and I agree, most of the questions asked here can be found on the website. However, I won’t deny that I’ve had to jump through hoops trying to find some of those answers though lol
@ashurikko I used parchment to send my high school transcripts and they accepted it
One of the impossible things to find about is things like Conditions of Acceptances. They’re so vague about this that it kinda pisses me off, because its just so subjective. But oh well.
does anyone know when annenberg results have come out in past years?
anyone in econ/math major?
Just found this video on YouTube, ugh it’s not looking good for us transfers
@SmokedHam Unless of course 2017 happens to be like my year (2015) where I didn’t hear an admission decision/SGR until after June 1st. It wasn’t that many days (June 6th), but hearing absolutely nothing and the deadline having passed, I assumed I was rejected My year seems to be one of the outliers though in which USC didn’t honor their own deadline.
@usc2563 @TheWorrisomeGirl … I don’t want to get anyone’s hopes up as I’m not an expert on this… but I called USC about a month ago because my fin aid portal showed I need to submit CSS noncustodial portion… even though I had already submitted noncustodial waiver plus custodial css. I asked them what they need to approve my waiver and why it hadn’t been approved yet… they said they do not make financial aid decisions until an admissions decision has been reached…
I really hope my waiver is approved soon because I’m even more nervous/ frustrated than before seeing as people’s waivers are clearing… I have a 4.0 with 60 semester units done and 16 in progress and I think I will get a B in math this semester so I’m somewhat scared … it would only bring down gpa to like 3.95 but Math 26 at smc is a pre req for RRD at price. usc is the only school I applied to and I live 15 min away…
@tayloralext that’s what one of the people I spoke to told me and then I just kept getting contradictory info until the issue was resolved, so I wonder what the truth of the matter actually is. ugh, it’s confusing.
Anyone from TTP get rejected? I was offered TTP, and have reserved an appointment in June, and will be attending UCSB, hopefully for a year
does anyone know if USC accepts people to Dornsife based on major or the school itself? Like are certain majors within Dornsife a lot more competitive than others? Sorry if this is a dumb question, there just isn’t any information on acceptances by major!! (or at least I couldn’t find it)
@jonathaanv You can always find good off campus apartments.
@eden97 That information doesn’t seem to be released at all. The whole 3.7 GPA thing is university-wide, so who knows if say sociology usually has an average admitted GPA of 3.9 whereas anthropology might have something like 3.5? I think those are numbers from UCLA’s transfer stats breakdown at one point at time lol, so I’m making up numbers with basis in reality (just from another school). It is really difficult to say. If anything, if you go on a tour at USC nowadays, the tour guide will likely say “all that talk you hear about one major/school being harder to get into than another is complete nonsense”. They all follow the same script, so it’s likely for that line to come up at some point during the tour. I have no idea if that’s true or just what the admissions office has the tour guides telling prospective applicants just so they won’t ask that question.
It would be helpful if USC released more detailed stats like UCLA, but maybe there’s a reason why. Perhaps some majors have lower (or higher) GPAs than you’d expect and they don’t want that information public.
@LuNayyy I’m an Econ major!
Hi Guys! Im applying as a incoming sophomore, if I get a SGR, is that a good sign of getting admitted or should I still be somewhat worried. My GPA 1st Semester was a 3.7 and ill most likely get a 3.6 this semester.
When do SGR’s come out if they haven’t already? Idk if taking the Writing 150 equivalent right now is enough for me to get a SGR instead of direct acceptance.
I am in the same boat as both of you! I am an incoming sophomore applying as an Econ major to Dornsife, second option being Undeclared. I got a 3.7 Fall Semester and may get a 3.5 at worst this semester, so I will have a 3.6 GPA overall (is that okay?). I am coming from a four-year University, I believe that my letter of rec is pretty strong, good work/volunteer experience, and I feel content with my essay. I will have some GE’s done and requirements except for Calc, I’m praying to be a Spring admit if I do not get in for Fall, but we will see!
