@dvalenc7 I called the Office of Orientation Programs and they told me I could make a separate enrollment appointment. They said orientation primarily emphasizes the social aspect (including on-campus living). Was hoping someone who’s been through it could confirm.
PS – nice photo. I take it you got in.
@tankle104 I’m down to about plan F at the moment lol. I just naturally plan for the worst
@Amaryllis85 I did go to orientation and I loved it. Made me feel like I made the right decision turning down UCLA so late in the game (I had actually already gone to UCLA’s orientation). Just as @dvalenc7, it’s pretty important to go since that’s when you actually register for classes and they open spaces in certain classes just for transfers (like some of the GEs that you have to complete at USC, so the orientation is your shot to snag a spot). They prevent anybody else from registering that day, so I’m not sure exactly how you would register. Like if you would have to wait until every transfer orientation is done? Or maybe the next day if you register for an event, but don’t wind up going. You’d really have to ask about that.
@peace4allpeeps They do have several groups like one for first generation students and there’s definitely a transfer group. I just never made use of them because I commuted and a lot of the events were around 5PM and I was usually on the way home by then. Of course, I’m just not all that social. If you need help to ease the transition, it’s definitely available to you. Even though I didn’t get the Topping Scholarship for instance, even they reached out to me asking if I ever needed help in adjusting to USC. So there’s plenty of options
@Amaryllis85 thanks and yes I got in! I believe I saw you were accepted as well, congratulations! Are you debating on going to orientation? That other option is great for students who don’t want to go to orientation. The only reason I’m going is to get immediate academic counseling, register for classes, get more info about clubs, and make new friends
@dvalenc7 I heard operation management was the toughest class of all. I’m actually looking forward to applied business statistics hahaha, but It won’t be as hard as other statistics classes that require calculus.
I still haven’t heard anything back! I applied to roski and i have a 4.0, 3 recommendation letters, really well written writing supplements, a fairly strong portfolio I’d say and extracurricular activities but i had awful high school grades so i’m terrified.
But just to give anyone who’s freaking out like myself some hope, I have a cousin who goes there now but didn’t get his letter until May 30th. Best of luck to all!
did anyone just get a BUNCH of new required documents requested on their financial aid portal regarding 2016/2017? they never requested for these documents before and they’re super specific. i really don’t want to go through the effort of uploading and filing all these forms just to end up with a rejection
I was just accepted through mail but not through YouSC. Does it take longer for online admission to come in?
@amirsdv It took about 3 days for my portal to be updated. This was back in 2015, but I assume that’s pretty much the timeframe still
Do you guys know if people in the past who have received SGR’s have been notified in June if they have been accepted or did they actually lag it until mid-July?
@aileen33445533 some hear back late May, some in June, some in July… people that hear back in July are either on the quarter system and finish late, or have a somewhat weak application that causes the admissions committee to hold off on making a decision
@penntousc thanks so much you’re always so helpful!
@aileen33445533 just doing what I can to help!
just ordered my transcripts for spring grades in hopes of them getting there before a SGR holds up my review. Fingers crossed.
the student fee is $350 and is paid by all incoming, whether you go to Orientation or not. For non CA residents, it can be hard to make it there for the day, but I wouldn’t miss it for the world. You get to register for classes before registration opens for others AND we get to meet our fellow transfers and establish some relationships. They have guest rooms available at a much better price than the hotel across the street, but not at the August date.
Hey everyone. This is my first comment ever on this website lol Actually I applied to USC as a transfer, and I’m literally dying to get my decision letter, I can’t way no more! I thought maybe joining CC and talking to others would help! Wish ya’ll the best in your applications
@pomeranian4rich lol I was wondering if that was showing up. I’m doing 3 weeks at cc penitentiary lol.
@Aurora7 incoming sophomore or junior? TTP?
