2017 - 2018 USC Transfer

@usc2563 yeah make sense

@Aurora7 I’m from Nor cal! How about you? And don’t worry, a good amount of out of state still get in :slight_smile:

@Ftewrbewr awesome! I hope you get in

@Shagunbali I hope so. I live in Texas.

@Aurora7 Yes he’s right, since USC is in CA, it only makes sense that the most applicants come from CA. I woudn’t worry about that affecting your admissions tho. If you did what Viterbi wanted you to do, you should have no problem getting in.

Are there any TTP applicants who still haven’t heard back? I’m coming from a UC and got a 3.8 and then a 4.0 for my first two quarters. I’m wondering why it’s taking so long to get an acceptance/rejection since I thought TTP usually heard back earlier

please hurry up and deny me USC so I can move on with my life!

@SmokedHam LEGIIIIIIIIIIIIIT

Hey everyone! Just posting here again because I’ve been getting a lot of messages from people about SGRs and whatnot, so I wanted to share a bit about my experience and help out if I could. I was admitted for spring 2017 as a sophomore, Marshall school of business–and yes, I absolutely LOVE usc and the marshall school.

I got an SGR may 7 and didn’t hear back until mid July (so hang in there!!). What I did during that torturous time of waiting was update my admissions counselor on relevant things that I was doing from the time I got the SGR until when I was accepted. For example, when I decided to take a summer econ class I knew wouldn’t transfer, I told her about it and said it was because I wanted to be as prepared as possible for when I potentially took econ at USC. When I started a small finance position over the summer, I told her about how it gave me real-world experience that made me appreciate the value of my education and career choice. I even told her about a volunteer gig that was not relevant to my major, but thought it wouldn’t hurt to mention.

She pretty much never responded to any of my emails, but I never expected her to, or wrote in a way that would require her to respond, The point was just to keep reminding her of how serious I was about attending USC and being a successful student here. This was especially important for me since I had such a low GPA (3.4).

I can’t say for certain that that’s what got me in, but I have a strong sense that it tipped things in my favor over the candidates with 3.7+ GPAs who got rejected. So my advice…just email your counselors every once in a while (1-2 times a month?) just to let them know what you’re up to and to show that you value what they think. It gives them a more personal sense of responsibility over you (since I don’t think many applicants do this) and makes it easier for them to vouch for you at the decision table…idk it’s some psychology hack my old professor told me.

Good luck because the wait might be really long, but just keep putting your best foot forward and trust in yourself!

Viterbi CE Applicant here @itslife123 . Not expecting much though, committed to my backup already.

I’m a viterbi CS sophomore applicant from a four year but am not really expecting to get in since I couldn’t finish the pre-reqs for the major due to the classes offered at my school ;-;

@smh101 thats a rejection for sure then

@smh101 here are requirements. http://viterbiadmission.usc.edu/transfer/#findcourses
