@uscdream19 I think you can set up the notifications where it shows you a picture of it. It is under package preferences.
Smhhhhhhhh It’s really a package from New York wtfffff
@brixnx thanks!
lol @uscdream19 yeah it is going to give you a notification about anything being delivered to your house. I got an email this morning about a package and it was stupid stuff. I actually had a dream last night I was accepted. So when i saw that this morning, I was like 0.0 and then let down immediately
@tankle104 yeah man so heated. I was just about to start tearing up until I saw its origin start from New York -_- man this sucks
Did anyone who submitted the noncustodial waiver get the aid that they expected?
@tankle104 well… they seem to send it out randomly, but batches seem to go out at the end of the week - thursday/friday
That being said, most likely, SoCal residents won’t get an admissions packet in the mail on Mondays because most of SoCal is 1 day priority mail delivery and the last day of the week that USC will send out admissions packets is on Friday, which means that most SoCal people will get those packets on Saturday.
But of course, mail gets delayed so it is possible for SoCal people to get admissions packets on Mondays too, but not likely.
Rejections, on the other hand, will still be delivered on Mondays for SoCal people because they just send it out via registered mail (which would take like 2 days to get to people in SoCal) so if they do send it out on Friday, getting the small envelope on Monday is right on track…
However, for people not living in SoCal, any day is game.
Does anyone know any updates on SCA?
Went on a jog this afternoon and saw the mail guy putting a package in the community box (which we share with like 10 neighbours, but I was optimistic). Came back home and saw my mom holding a box in my peripheral vision, waiting for me, and I immediately got excited…
It was a bulk order from 1-800-Contacts -_-
@Transfer510 While a good number of people from Dornsife have heard back, still a good number of people have yet to hear back… Not to worry just yet… I’m waiting on Dornsife too…
@penntousc Please don’t tell me they’re stiffing people of aid this year. That is one thing I’m not equipped to handle.
@dvalenc7 I believe the placement test system is really just there in case you want to take additional classes - like say, a math class that has calc as a pre-req. If you completely bomb the exam, they might have reservations about you taking it. Of course, if you’ve already taken calc, it’s not like they can deny you the transfer credit. I remember that I had to take a foreign language placement exam - despite having taken a foreign language at CC. I assumed that my two semesters in that language would exempt me from taking the exam, but nope. I did (thankfully) place into the third level, but from my understanding, people that don’t perform as well as expected are able to sign some sort of waiver that lets them take the higher level course. Say I tested into Italian II, but felt I could complete Italian III given that I took Italian II at CC. USC basically will let you take it, but if you happen to fail the class, the waiver you sign basically states that you know you’re enrolling in a course that you may not be prepared for.
Oh, and on the topic of email/user ID, mine is my entire first name + my middle initial + the first two letters of my surname. It seems pretty random in how they come up with it. Although, it reads/sounds like “Jesse army”, so I think it’s sorta cool
@angeleno13 no, still waiting to hear back from SCA as well… i’ve been checking my portal daily, but no changes so far!! i’m not that worried yet because no one else from SCA (that i know of) has heard back yet. they’re probably still going through our slideroom supplements
@MakeItHappenUSC I have no clue, that’s why I was asking… haven’t gotten my aid yet, the application is in review
@penntousc Thank god. Hope you get the maximum though.
@MakeItHappenUSC The maximum aid I’ve encountered is ~50K in gift aid (from personal experience and chatting with a few others in similar financial situations). I don’t really seem to know under what circumstances one could get more aid than that, but maybe if you’re lucky it can happen. I already see that as quite generous though given USC’s hefty price tag
Did scholarships come out yet?
Also, how hard is it to internally transfer between schools? I applied undecided but got into Dornsife and I wanna switch to Annenberg.
@zettasyntax How much is tuition per year, though? It’s about $52k just for tuition, right?
@MakeItHappenUSC that’s what I’m hoping too, but I would pay up to 25k/year, although I think it’ll be closer to 15-16k
@jae2017 yeah, which would be great, but a lot of students don’t work at all during college. So they need help with living assistance. I personally work 30-40 hours a week to pay everything. I don’t think it is as hard as everyone makes it to work and go to school full time.
I would rather work and have way less debt when I graduate, but I understand why people don’t want to work during college.
