2017 - 2018 USC Transfer

@itslife123 Every time the portal logs me out I’m like IS THIS IT!!! DO I HAVE TO LOG BACK IN BECAUSE I GOT AN UPDATE.
And it’s…never…that.

chance me please. I got a 4.0 in fall and applied for sophomore year to USC. I recieved a SGR on May 10 and completed 6/8 GEs (at the end of this semester). However, I might get a B in my English writing class, if I get A’s in all of my other classes would I still have a good chance at getting accepted?

@Elco2USC no one can accurately chance you on the board. but I’d say you’re not exactly in bad shape considering the amount of GEs you’ve completed.

financial aid updated! Got a whopping 0 dollars! I’m out

@BusinessBrah Jesus, that sucks.

@uscorberk sophomore applicant, gpa: 3.6, maybe 4 GEs fulfilled, coming from private out of state university, barely any extracurriculars, thought i had pretty good essays

@arteest1 yes hopefully! i’m wondering if the SGR is from annenberg or my 2nd choice major

@marcollege17 That’s a good point. What’s your second choice?

i don’t care if ill be 200k in debt i will take all the loans to go to USC haha

Hey everyone. I’m a Sophomore Annenberg applicant from UC Riverside. I have a 3.6 GPA and haven’t received anything from USC since they asked for my Winter grades in April. It’s kinda strange that I haven’t received an SGR considering I’m taking two upper division courses right now. Just patiently awaiting a rejection…

@swaggyb22 I know you’re likely joshing but beware of taking on crushing loans-- even if it’s a brand name like USC. They will ruin the rest of your 20’s if they’re too high. My cousin went to NYU and her life has been in disarray because of the loans she owes. Ultimately, most employers couldn’t care less about where you received your degree from unless it’s from Stanford, Yale or a top ten school.

@jdfinancialsec i know that it’s just I have a very specific plan that will only work through a few specific engineering programs that will get me guaranteed employment and I was already rejected to Duke. It also helps that USC is the dream school

A friend told me that if you were accepted to USC once and applied again, you have a better chance of getting in. Any thoughts?

Hey guys! I’m a junior applicant still waiting on Marshall. Right now I’m waiting on USC or NYU. For USC, I pretty much have 6 of 8 GE’s completed and the only thing that could have affected my chances is that I took Calculus 1 this spring instead of last fall because it was the only time it was offered at my CC, which is why I expected an SGR.

The wait is really getting to me, especially since I graduated from my CC last week and I still don’t know here I’ll be going! At first I thought I was all set with USC since I have been working all of my semesters towards completing the GE’s, but now that June 1st is coming soon, I don’t know.

I had some required documents that financial aid had not taken off of my status until just today and now it is under review. I don’t know if that means I’m still being considered enough for them to look at my financial aid… or am I just looking too much into it lol. But, I’ve made up my mind that if I don’t get in then I will probably go back to my CC for another year and advance in more math courses…

But aside from all the negativity, I wish you all the best of luck. All of you are hard working people and I know that you will do great things no matter where you end up going :slight_smile:

@chingyangkao they asked for my winter grades as well April 19th, still haven’t head back with anything… applied dornsife.

@jdfinancialsec If that’s true, that employers don’t care where you get your degree from, then why do alumni connections at USC work so well? From your standpoint, being a California resident, maybe they won’t notice much of a difference between the top UC’s, USC, Pepperdine, etc., but that is most definitely false throughout the rest of the country. California residents are lucky to have such amazing options for college, so many of which rank highly, because where I’m coming from the state schools are well below average, and that’s the case in most other states as well. I’ve seen a lot of people come out of smaller, no name schools with good marks and a good resume and struggle big time to find a job in their field, let alone a job at all. Meanwhile, some dude that transferred to USC as a sophomore last year apparently has an internship at Goldman Sachs after just one year at the school, which is something that would take years of progression for most small-name school students to work up to. However, I do agree that no school is worth a ridiculous amount in loans.

I don’t mean any disrespect, but why did you attend USC? Based on what you’ve been saying, you don’t seem to like nor respect the school very much at all. I haven’t seen such a distaste in USC from any current students or alumni in any of the research I’ve done/people I’ve talked to.

@hustlemuscle how about the English requirement? How is your gpa? Many people on here are still waiting so don’t lose hope but you’re def getting an sgr with calc in progress and are you a sophomore or junior ?

@hustlemuscle I think you’ll be fine with the amount of GE’s you have as well as requirements completed. I was accepted with very similar stats (don’t know what your GPA is though) except that I took Calculus 1 in the fall, so I didn’t receive an SGR. Good luck!

ALSOO anyone who submitted a NONCUSTODIAL WAIVER!!
Has it disappeared from your require docs??

@Skepta haha my Winter grades were requested April 6th and I still haven’t heard anything since then
