@penntousc ur definitely right about the options. Even as cc students, we have guaranteed admissions to UCSB, UC Davis, UC Irvine, UC Santa Cruz, after completetign 90 transfer quarter units or equivalent semester units (basically 1-2 years at cc) with a gpa of 3.3/3.4 or above. I can’t imagine the stress for non cali students not having like a guaranteed backup.
@hchung0719 it disappeared after I was accepted. I think for most people, that’s when it disappears. Saw a handful of others who had it disappear and then were accepted; it’s sort of a sign because when we had all called, financial aid told everyone that they wouldn’t review the appeal until the applicant is accepted.
@Skepta yeah, most people who don’t do really well (top 10-20%) in high school just go to small and affordable state schools. Nothing wrong with going for affordability, I just wish there were more options. However, it turns out that I’m lucky to be in the financial position that I’m in because it allows me to get a ton of aid from USC so that I can attend! Definitely would be nice to be a California resident though, because even though I still would have chosen USC, having backups really would have eased some of the stress!
any viterbi applicants?
@penntousc now you get to experience the cali life for the next 3 years! I’m from NorCal/Bay Area so if I do get in it would be interesting to expirience so cal, iv heard some things lol.
@jdfinancialsec @penntousc yeah I’m also curious as to why you dislike being at Marshall so much ? Can you elaborate since a lot of us are dreaming to be in your shoes.
@Skepta hopefully for more than 3! With the help of the trojan family I definitely intend on staying out there!
@penntousc I’m the only one who has had that waiver disappear and no acceptance. Sigh.
@usc2563 I actually thought of you when I was writing that because I thought that was the case, but couldn’t remember for sure if you had that. That’s really odd though, but you do have good stats so keep your hopes up!
Any Marshall that still never got a decision yet? Feel like probably rejected
This is my first time ever posting here but I stalk these threads like crazy! Has anyone heard back from Sociology yet?
@Wafflepiezz don’t worry, I know a lot of my friends who are still waiting with myself included. I think we should hear back by the end of this week or next at MOST. If nothing by then might prepare for the worst
@pantafootball2 @penntousc I already have the english requirements and all the other ones, even both accounting classes and the micr/macro economic ones (passed with A’s) even though I realized USC won’t take them. I also have a 3.9 GPA, and yea I know! I just wish I had taken it in the fall. I’m from a small town CC in NC so getting the classes you want can get stressful because we have a small amount of faculty who can do some certain amount of classes each semester. At my school, most calculus classes are only available in the spring which sucks!
At this point I’m just really confused because I thought I had a really strong app, but each day that goes by without any kind of notification (not even an SGR! Like yo, I have a 4.0 and 7 GEs completed; even if I did get an SGR, I’m sure I could pull all A’s this semester) kills me more. And it doesn’t help that the Claremont Colleges have been picky as heck OTL
I just feel so ANTSY
@Shuisazn exact same stats for me but replace 7 GEs with 6. I think you mentioned before that you were an incoming sophomore as well, (same here). Still no SGR lol.
@Shuisazn what’s your major? I also have 7 GEs completed with a 4.0
@penntousc it’s been like three weeks since they’ve sent me something that wasn’t the Norman Topping email. I’m pretty sure I’m the outlier with the processing being related.
Fingers are still crossed though! Most of the time anyway, haha.
Do they update the portal usually in the mornings or whenever time?
@usc2563 actually @jonathaanv also had their waiver accepted beforehand, but back in the winter, and obviously he ended up ultimately getting accepted.
